Planning Your Trip

What Can You See in Eight Days in India?

Eight days gives you room to go beyond India's best-known stops, but not enough time to see several distant regions well. If this is your first visit, you could explore Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, then add Varanasi or a wildlife stop. Alternatively, spend all seven nights in Kerala or the mountains. A good 8-day India itinerary makes time for the experience you came for, not just another city on the route.

Popular ways to spend seven nights

  • History and the Ganges: Take a Golden Triangle tour through Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, then continue to Varanasi for the evening Ganga Aarti and an early-morning visit to the ghats. This is a fuller schedule and normally calls for a domestic flight.
  • The Taj Mahal and a tiger safari: Combine Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore and Jaipur. Keep enough time for at least one planned safari, and check the park's opening dates before choosing your travel month. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
  • Rajasthan at your own pace: If forts, markets and heritage hotels interest you more than ticking off the Taj Mahal, look at our Rajasthan tours. Jaipur, Pushkar and Jodhpur fit a different style of trip from a longer desert circuit reaching Jaisalmer.
  • Kerala's hills and backwaters: A Kerala holiday can pair Kochi and Munnar with Thekkady and an Alleppey backwater stay. Add beach time only if you are comfortable with the extra drive, or skip a stop to have a quieter holiday.
  • Himalayan landscapes: A Leh Ladakh tour may reach Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake after proper time to adjust to the altitude. For a less demanding mountain holiday, consider Kashmir around Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam.
  • North East India: Our North East tours include Assam and Meghalaya journeys, as well as longer road routes towards Tawang. Choose carefully: an eight-day trip with several mountain drives feels very different from one based around Shillong and nearby sights.

Use the extra day where it matters

An eighth day does not have to mean another hotel. It could be a second night in Varanasi, more time at Jaipur's forts, or a relaxed morning on Kerala's backwaters. Check the route on each package card rather than judging it by the number of cities. If you land in India in the evening and fly home early on the final day, your seven-night tour may give you only six full days to explore.

A few things to settle before booking flights

Delhi is a convenient gateway for most Golden Triangle routes; Kochi suits many Kerala itineraries. Srinagar, Leh and Guwahati often involve a domestic connection for travellers arriving from overseas. If the tour finishes in a different city, ask about the final flight and allow a sensible connection to your international departure. Also remember that the Taj Mahal is closed to general visitors on Fridays, safaris follow park schedules, and high-altitude travel in Ladakh needs an unhurried start.

Choose the destination for your travel dates

For Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan, October through March generally offers more comfortable sightseeing weather. Kerala is popular in the cooler months, although its rainy season has a different appeal. Kashmir changes with the seasons, while Ladakh's mountain roads and North East India's wildlife visits need closer attention to weather and seasonal access. If your dates are fixed, we can help you pick a route that makes sense for that month.

Prices, inclusions and changes to the itinerary

The cost of a private 8 days India tour package depends on the hotels, number of travellers, season and any flights, safaris or special stays. Where a tour card shows a starting price, use it as a guide rather than a final quote. Depending on the selected package, arrangements can include accommodation with breakfast, private transfers, a driver and local guides. Domestic flights, entrance fees and activities should be checked against the written proposal; international flights are not included. Tell us your dates, arrival airport, group size and preferred hotel level, and we can adjust the route before you book.
