This 8 Days Leh Ladakh Tour Package is designed for travellers who want to experience Ladakh’s essential landscapes without rushing directly from Leh to its highest-altitude destinations. The route covers Leh, Sham Valley, Khardung La, Nubra Valley, Turtuk, Pangong Lake and Chang La before returning to Leh for local sightseeing and departure.
The journey begins with essential acclimatization in Leh Ladakh. After a lower-altitude sightseeing day in Sham Valley, the tour crosses Khardung La towards Nubra Valley. From Nubra, a separate excursion visits Turtuk, one of the remote villages in the lower Shyok Valley, before the route continues directly to Pangong Lake.
This itinerary combines Buddhist monasteries, mountain passes, desert valleys, remote villages and a high-altitude lake. It is particularly suitable for couples, families, photographers and small private groups who are comfortable with long drives, basic facilities in remote areas and rapidly changing mountain weather.
Although the journey lasts eight days, it is not a relaxed resort holiday. The Nubra to Pangong and Pangong to Leh sectors are long, and road conditions can affect travel times. A safe and successful trip depends on proper acclimatization, realistic expectations and flexibility when weather or local authorities require a route change.
Who Is This Ladakh Itinerary Best For?
This route is best for travellers visiting Ladakh for the first time who want to include both Turtuk and Pangong Lake in one trip. It works well for visitors who prefer a private vehicle and want more flexibility than a fixed group departure.
Travellers looking for a slower holiday should consider adding one or two nights. The itinerary may not be suitable for anyone who has been advised to avoid high altitude or who is uncomfortable with remote roads and limited medical facilities.
Why Acclimatization Matters
Leh is already located at high altitude. Visitors arriving by air gain elevation quickly and may experience headache, tiredness, disturbed sleep, nausea or shortness of breath. The Leh administration advises tourists to complete at least 48 hours of acclimatization before travelling towards higher areas such as Khardung La and Pangong Lake.
Day 1 should therefore remain a rest day. The Sham Valley excursion on Day 2 should be kept comfortable, with adequate hydration and no strenuous activity. The journey to Nubra should begin only after the required acclimatization period has been completed.

Understanding the Driving Route
The journey from Leh to Nubra crosses Khardung La before descending into the valley. The Turtuk excursion follows the Shyok River through a remote border region. The longest sector is usually Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via the Shyok route, which can take six to eight hours or longer depending on road and water-crossing conditions.
Pangong to Leh normally crosses Chang La. Both routes include high passes, narrow sections and limited roadside facilities. Distances shown in an itinerary are approximate, and driving time should never be treated as fixed in Ladakh.
Permits and Route Access
Protected or border areas may require permits and identity details. Requirements can differ for Indian citizens, foreign nationals and certain nationalities. Permit rules, eligible routes and document requirements should be checked again before travel rather than copied from an old itinerary.

Detailed Itinerary
Tusk Travel representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Rest as you will need time to adjust to the weather. During the afternoon, you can take a walk through the old town to orient yourself with the beautiful city. An evening visit to the Shanti Stupa offers panoramic views of the surroundings. Stay at a comfortable hotel in Leh for the night.
Enjoy your breakfast this morning before departing for the Sham Valley excursion. Visit the famous Gurudwara Pathar Sahib on the way, and then head to Magnetic Hill, which is where your car moves uphill even when it is in neutral. Later, visit the Sangam Point of Indus and Zanskar. Return to the hotel and spend the night in Leh.
After breakfast, you will be driven to Nubra Valley via Khardungla pass, which is regarded as the highest motorable road in the world. Experience the breathtaking views of the endless snow-capped mountains around Khardungla Pass (18,380 feet). On the way to the Nubra Valley, admire the 106 foot tall statue of the Future Buddha. Additionally, you can enjoy a Camel Safari in the evening and visit the cold desert of Nubra Valley. During your stay, you will go to a camp.
Drive to Turtuk after breakfast. Turkuk is one of the gateways to the Siachen Glacier, and is the last outpost in India before entering Pakistani-controlled Gilgit-Baltistan. You have not seen anything like this in Ladakh since it is part of Gilgit-Baltistan, which is a linguistic, cultural, and historical region distinct from Ladakh. There is a dramatic difference in the landscape, with narrow valleys and steep mountains in contrast to Central Ladakh and Nubra. Comparatively, you'll find green pastures here that produce fresh fruits like apricots and apples since it is located at a lower altitude than Leh. Spend the night in Nubra.
Enjoy an early breakfast this morning and then head out to see the Pangong Lake via Shyok. The beautiful colors of the water in Pangong Lake are a delight to behold. Pangong lake with a height of 4267 metres and a length of 130 kms and a width of about 6 kms, it is the highest salt-water lake in the world. The perfect clarity of the environment combined with the beautiful surrounding hills has added to its magnificence. Spend a few more minutes with nature while you eat dinner and take in the starry night sky. Spend the night in Pangong.
You can spend the morning in the camps, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Continue driving back to Leh, crossing the Changla La (pass). You should arrive at Leh in the afternoon. Enjoy some shopping at nearby local markets or simply relax. Take a relaxing nap after dinner to prepare yourself for the next day trip.
After breakfast, we will go sightseeing in Leh. Begin your trip by visiting Shey Place and Thikse Monastery. Here you experience stupas, statues, Thangkas, wall paintings, and a large pillar representing Buddha's teachings. After lunch, continue driving to Hemis Monastery, built in 1630 and the oldest monastery of the Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism. Later, explore the Stok Palace Museum. Spend your last night in Leh.
After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and head to the airport. You will be dropped off at Leh Airport. Our tour will end with cherished memories.
