Plan Your India Holiday

What Can You See in 15 Days in India?

Fifteen days gives you room to see more than the usual Delhi–Agra–Jaipur circuit. You might spend the full fortnight among Rajasthan's forts and desert towns, add Varanasi and Kerala to a first-time trip, follow South India's temple and heritage trail, or make wildlife the main purpose of your journey. The right choice depends less on how many cities you can fit in and more on how you want to spend your days.

Most 15 days India tour packages have 14 overnight stays. That sounds generous, but flights, long drives and hotel changes still reduce sightseeing time. Before choosing a tour, look at the route on each card and count how many places have only one night. A two-night stay usually gives you a more rewarding visit than arriving late and leaving again after breakfast.

For a first visit: North India, Varanasi and Kerala

One of the most interesting ways to use two weeks is to divide the journey between two regions. Start in Delhi, see Jaipur's palaces and the Taj Mahal in Agra, then continue to Varanasi for the ghats and an early-morning look at life along the Ganges. A domestic flight takes you south to Kochi, where the atmosphere changes to coastal neighbourhoods, spice-growing hills and Kerala's backwaters.

Our 15-day Best of India tour follows this idea. It is a good fit if this may be your only visit to India and you want a wider impression of the country. The trade-off is a more active schedule, including internal flights and several hotel changes. If you prefer time to wander, choose one region instead.

For forts, desert towns and heritage hotels: Rajasthan

Rajasthan rewards travellers who enjoy seeing how places change along the road. Mandawa is known for its painted merchant houses; Bikaner and Jaisalmer take you towards the Thar Desert. Then come Jodhpur's imposing Mehrangarh Fort, the marble temples at Ranakpur and the lakes of Udaipur. Jaipur and Agra complete the journey with some of North India's best-known monuments.

The 15-day Rajasthan tour covers a substantial distance, so it suits people who enjoy being on the move. If a slower holiday matters more, consider removing a stop and keeping extra nights in Jaisalmer or Udaipur. In the desert, daytime conditions are generally more comfortable in the cooler months; summer drives and sightseeing can be demanding.

Want the Taj Mahal and a beach finish?

There is a sensible way to combine famous North India sights with a few restful days by the sea. Travel from Delhi through Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur, fly onwards to Mumbai, and finish in Goa. Mumbai brings a very different urban experience before the final coastal stay. Our Rajasthan, Mumbai and Goa itinerary is designed around that contrast.

You will need to plan the domestic flights carefully. Goa has more than one commercial airport, and a domestic connection to your international flight should have a generous buffer. If your flight home leaves from Mumbai or Delhi early in the day, it may be wiser to return from Goa the previous evening rather than risk a tight same-day connection.

For temples and history: Karnataka or Tamil Nadu

South India is not one single itinerary. A heritage-focused journey through Karnataka introduces Mysuru's royal history, the carved temples around Belur and Halebidu, the ruins of Hampi and the stone monuments of Badami. Our 15-day South India heritage tour ends in Goa, giving travellers several quieter days after the inland sightseeing.

Another route starts in Mumbai and moves through Kerala before continuing east to Madurai, Thanjavur, Pondicherry and Mahabalipuram. The 15-day South India tour from Mumbai is better for travellers particularly interested in living temples, coastal culture and the differences between Tamil Nadu and Kerala. This is not a trip to rush: long road sections and visits to active places of worship need sensible timing.

For wildlife: spend the nights near the parks

A wildlife holiday works differently from a normal sightseeing tour. Early starts, permit timings and travel between reserves shape the whole schedule. The Madhya Pradesh heritage and wildlife tour combines places such as Sanchi and Khajuraho with Kanha and Bandhavgarh. This gives the trip some cultural variety without reducing the forest visits to a single safari.

South India has another option: the South India wildlife journey travels through Karnataka's forest regions and the Western Ghats towards Kerala. Park operations, safari zones and access vary by location and season. No operator can promise sightings, so we would confirm the available safari programme for your month before finalising the route.

For a trip built around a particular interest

If history is what draws you to India, you do not have to follow the usual tourist triangle. The Central India heritage itinerary links Agra, Gwalior, Orchha, Khajuraho and sites further west towards Aurangabad. It covers a lot of ground and is best planned with close attention to train or flight options, rather than assuming every section is a short drive.

Food can also shape the trip. The 15-day India culinary journey connects Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Mumbai with Kochi and Thekkady. Expect different ingredients and cooking traditions, not simply restaurant meals every day. Let us know about allergies, vegetarian preferences or foods you avoid so that any tastings and cooking experiences can be arranged appropriately.

Alternatively, the Gujarat tribal and cultural tour explores communities, crafts and heritage away from the busiest first-time routes. Travellers drawn to northern landscapes can consider the 15-day Uttarakhand tour, though mountain roads and the season can make a large difference to daily travel times.

Can you visit India and Nepal in 15 days?

Yes, if you limit the Indian part of the trip to a practical route and allow time for flights and border arrangements. Our Rajasthan and Nepal journey brings Kathmandu together with the forts and cities of Rajasthan. Travellers more interested in nature can look at the India and Nepal wildlife tour, which includes Chitwan alongside Indian destinations.

Check the entry rules for both countries using your passport nationality, especially if the plan involves leaving India and then returning for your flight home. Airline schedules may also dictate the most comfortable sequence of destinations. We would confirm those details before recommending the international flight routing.

When should you travel?

There is no single best month for every 15-day India itinerary. Rajasthan and much of North India's plains are generally easier to explore during the cooler part of the year, while Kerala and Goa have distinct monsoon conditions. Himalayan routes depend on altitude and road access. Wildlife parks can also close certain safari areas for parts of the year. Choose the region first, then match it to your travel dates rather than relying on an India-wide weather summary.

Book flights after checking the route

For Rajasthan, Delhi is a convenient international gateway. A tour across Kerala and Tamil Nadu may work better with arrival in Kochi and departure from Chennai, or the reverse. Karnataka to Goa itineraries can begin in Bengaluru and end at a Goa airport. This type of arrival-in-one-city, departure-from-another ticket can save a full travel day. If you already have return flights to Delhi or Mumbai, share the timings and we can plan the final connection around them.

Also allow the first evening for rest after a long-haul arrival. Travellers arriving late at night may prefer to start sightseeing the following morning. On a 14-night trip, a single well-placed rest day can improve the whole experience.

What affects the price of a private 15-day India tour?

The biggest differences are usually hotel category, travel season, the number of people sharing a vehicle and how many domestic flights are needed. A Rajasthan road circuit and a North-to-South India trip will not cost the same even when both last 15 days. Safari permits, specialist guides, houseboats and particular hotels can also affect the final quote. Prices shown on tour cards, where available, are starting points rather than a guarantee for every departure date.

A private itinerary may include hotels with breakfast, airport transfers, an air-conditioned vehicle with driver and local sightseeing guides. Domestic flights, train journeys, entrance tickets and special experiences depend on the itinerary and quotation. International flights are not included. We will specify the inclusions and exclusions before you book, so you can compare offers properly.

Can the 15-day itinerary be changed?

Of course. These tours are starting points, not fixed group departures. You can spend longer in one place, remove a long drive, change hotel standards, add a guide for a special interest or finish at a different airport. Share your dates, the number of travellers and the places you most want to visit. We can then suggest a route that makes sense for your time in India.
