History of Bagore Ki Haveli

During the control of Maharana Pratap Singh II, Raj Singh II, Hamir Singh, and Ari Singh from the era of 1751 to 1778, the Prime minister of the Mewar Kingdom named as Shri Amarchand Badwa constructed Bagore Ki Haveli. After the death of Amarchand Badwa, the haveli came under the control of the Mewar royal family and became the habitat of Nath Singh who was the relative of the next Maharana. In the year of 1878, Maharaj Shakti Singh who belongs to Bagore planned to enlarge the haveli by building the triple-arched gateway, and from that time it is called as Bagore Ki Haveli. Till 1947, the haveli remained under the control of Mewar state. After India got Independence, the Rajasthan government used this haveli for the enclosure of government employees. The haveli was disregarded for a long term of 40 years and later in 1986, the Government ultimately took a decision to hand over the reconstruction work to the West Zone Cultural Centre.

Restoration of Bagore Ki Haveli

The West Zone Cultural Centre transformed the haveli into a museum and maintained the royal look in the same ancient architectural style. In order to maintain its old beauty, various royal family members were taken for discussion and the Haveli was reconstructed by using local and conventional skills. The materials which were used for the reconstruction of this haveli included traditional materials such as lime mortar and Lakhori bricks. The remaining murals were protected and the windows, doors and perforated screens were mended and the significantly damaged ones were replaced.
