Tour Overview

Combine Rajasthan's royal cities with one of its most distinctive wildlife landscapes on this 6 Days Udaipur Jawai Leopard Safari Jodhpur Tour. The journey begins in Udaipur, where lakes, palaces and historic neighbourhoods introduce the elegance of the former Mewar kingdom. From there, travel to Jawai, a dramatic region of granite hills and rural villages known for its leopard population, before continuing to the Blue City of Jodhpur.

This itinerary is designed for travellers who want more variety than a conventional Rajasthan city tour. Udaipur offers architecture and culture, Jawai adds wildlife and countryside, and Jodhpur completes the journey with Mehrangarh Fort, blue-painted neighbourhoods and bustling old markets. The route also works well as part of a longer Rajasthan holiday linking Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaipur or Jaisalmer.

Jawai is especially interesting because the region's leopards live among rocky outcrops, village settlements and pastoral communities rather than inside a conventional national park setting. Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but the landscape itself, combined with local rural culture, makes Jawai a very different safari experience from Rajasthan's better-known tiger reserves.

The itinerary can be customised according to hotel category, safari timings, preferred pace and onward travel plans. Additional nights can also be added in Jawai or Jodhpur for a slower journey through western Rajasthan.

Tour Highlights:

  • Explore Udaipur's City Palace, Lake Pichola and historic old city.
  • Enjoy a wildlife safari through Jawai's dramatic granite hill landscape.
  • Look for leopards and other wildlife in the Jawai countryside.
  • Experience rural Rajasthan and the traditional communities around Jawai.
  • Visit Mehrangarh Fort overlooking the Blue City of Jodhpur.
  • Explore Jaswant Thada, local markets and Jodhpur's old neighbourhoods.
  • Travel on a scenic route connecting southern and western Rajasthan.

Detailed Itinerary

Arrive in Udaipur, where you will be met at the airport or railway station and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, take some time to relax and settle into the slower pace of Rajasthan's famous lake city.

Depending on your arrival time, begin with an orientation walk or drive through the historic centre. Udaipur developed as the capital of Mewar and remains known for its lakes, whitewashed palaces, temples, havelis and scenic Aravalli surroundings.

If time permits, visit the lakeside area around Lake Pichola or explore local markets where shops specialise in miniature paintings, textiles, handicrafts and traditional decorative arts.

The evening is free to relax or enjoy the atmosphere around the old city before returning to the hotel.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Arrival in Udaipur

After breakfast, begin a full day of sightseeing in Udaipur. Start at the impressive City Palace, one of Rajasthan's largest palace complexes. Explore its courtyards, balconies, museums and royal rooms while enjoying views over Lake Pichola and the surrounding city.

Continue to the Jagdish Temple, an important Hindu temple in the heart of the old city, before visiting Saheliyon Ki Bari, a historic garden created for the women of the royal household and known for fountains, pavilions and landscaped grounds.

Later, explore local neighbourhoods, craft areas or museums depending on your interests. Udaipur is particularly associated with miniature painting, silverwork, textiles and traditional Rajasthani arts.

In the late afternoon or early evening, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola, subject to operating conditions. The views of the City Palace, ghats and lakeside buildings are especially attractive as the light softens over the city.

Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Udaipur city sightseeing and Lake Pichola

After breakfast, leave Udaipur and drive approximately 150 km towards Jawai. The journey generally takes around three hours, passing through the rural landscapes of southern Rajasthan.

Jawai is known for its striking granite hills, open scrubland, reservoirs and small villages. The region has become especially famous for leopard sightings, with the animals using rocky caves and hill formations as natural shelter.

On arrival, check in at your wildlife lodge or camp and enjoy some time to relax. Depending on your arrival schedule and confirmed arrangements, you may take a short village excursion, countryside drive or simply enjoy the surrounding landscape.

Jawai is also home to pastoral communities whose traditional lifestyle is closely connected with the land and livestock. This cultural setting adds an important dimension to the wildlife experience.

Overnight stay in Jawai.

Jawai landscape and leopard safari region

Begin the day early with a wildlife safari through the rocky landscapes around Jawai. Local safari vehicles explore the granite outcrops, open countryside and village areas where leopards are frequently observed.

Although Jawai is well known for leopard activity, wildlife sightings are always dependent on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. During the safari, you may also see antelope, small mammals and a variety of birdlife, especially around the reservoir and open countryside.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and some time to relax before checking out. Later, drive approximately 160 km to Jodhpur, a journey of around three hours.

On arrival in Jodhpur, check in at your hotel. If time permits, enjoy an evening walk through the old market around the Clock Tower and Sardar Market, where spice shops, textiles, handicrafts and traditional food stalls create a lively local atmosphere.

Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Morning leopard safari in Jawai

After breakfast, begin a full-day sightseeing tour of Jodhpur, the historic capital of the Marwar region and one of Rajasthan's most distinctive cities.

Start with Mehrangarh Fort, rising dramatically above the old city. Explore its massive gateways, courtyards, palace rooms and museum collections while enjoying panoramic views over Jodhpur's famous blue-painted neighbourhoods.

Continue to Jaswant Thada, an elegant marble memorial built in honour of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Its peaceful gardens and white marble architecture provide a quiet contrast to the imposing fort nearby.

Later, explore the old city lanes and the area around Sardar Market and the Clock Tower. This is one of the best places to experience everyday Jodhpur, with shops selling spices, textiles, handicrafts and local snacks.

Depending on time and interest, additional sightseeing can include Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum or a visit to traditional craft workshops.

Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Mehrangarh Fort and Jodhpur sightseeing

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and spend the remaining time at leisure according to your departure schedule.

If your flight or train leaves later in the day, you may have time for last-minute shopping, a short walk through the old city or an additional attraction depending on your interests.

At the appropriate time, transfer to Jodhpur Airport or railway station for your onward journey.

Your 6-day Udaipur, Jawai and Jodhpur journey concludes after combining Rajasthan's lake palaces, rural landscapes, leopard country and the dramatic forts and blue neighbourhoods of Marwar.

Tour ends in Jodhpur.
