Gyan Kup (Gyan Vapi Well) Varanasi
Varanasi, the land of Shiva beholds many hidden gems, one amongst them is the Gyan Kup. It is situated on the premises of Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
Gyan Kup means “well of wisdom” and this well is believed to offer knowledge to its visitors through its water, people who drink water from this well are directed to the of spiritual elevation.
The well is also believed to hide many precious artifacts and jewelry from the temple, which were kept here to protect them from thieves. All the devotees who visit Varanasi first come to this Kup to take an oath before starting their Pancha Tirtha Yatra.
Tourists can enjoy a walk around nature around the temple and participate in the Mahaarti, paying their tribute to the Shivlinga.
