Dashashwamedh Ghat Varanasi
It is one of the most spectacular, liveliest, and colorful ghat of Varanasi on the Ganga River. The ghat is close to the famous Vishwanath Temple of Varanasi. The ghat got his name, Dashawamedh - indicating that Lord Brahma, Sacrificed (Medh) ten (das) horses (Aswa) at this ghat.
For historic and religious purposes, this place is famous. This ghat is known for Ganga Aarti - a lively ceremony that takes place every day. The unforgettable sight of the holy Ganga can be witnessed, as the beautiful Diyas, and flowers are poured into Ganga. The brass lamps, ringing bells, and sound of conch shells will give goosebumps to all the present members at dusk time. The ghat was reconstructed twice in 1740 AD and 1774 AD, by Bajirao Peshwa and Ahilyabai Holkar respectively.
