Assi Ghat Varanasi
Assi Ghat is one of the holiest ghats in Varanasi. Generally, Hindu pilgrims take a holy bath in the month of Chaitya (Month of March/April) and ‘Magh’ (Month of Jan/Feb). They also come here during Solar/Lunar Eclipse, Probodhoni, Ekadashi, or Makar Sankranti. It is situated at the union of Ganga and Assi River.
According to ancient history, Devi Durga, consort of Lord Shiva, had thrown her sword in the Assi River when she completed the killing of the demon named Shumbha & Nishumbha.
A huge Shiva Lingam is found at this ghat under the peepal tree and the pilgrims come to offer water after their bath in the river, Ganga. One more Shiva Lingam is seen in that particular ghat.
The ghat has become most amazing for the students, family members, foreigners, researchers, and tourists. It has a divine power to change the human mind, soul, and body. Even it helps people to concentrate on the good things.
