Reaching Jaisalmer via Train

Jaisalmer is aided by broad gauge as well as meter gauge rail tracks. Jaisalmer railway station is well connected to several major cities by several trains. Direct trains run from Jaipur, Jodhpur, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi, to Jaisalmer. Visitors can also avail of the luxurious train 'Palace on Wheels' that starts from Delhi and passes through key cities of Rajasthan that includes Jaisalmer. There are 3 direct trains that connect Delhi to Jaisalmer: Howrah-Jaisalmer SF Express, Ramnagar-Jaisalmer Express, and Ranikhet Express.

By Air

Jaisalmer city does not have its own airport. So, it is not accessible by air. Jodhpur Airport is the nearest airport to reach the desert land. It is located at a distance of 300 km from Jaisalmer. Flights from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, to Jodhpur city-run quite frequently. The airport joins Rajasthan with various key cities in India. From Jodhpur Airport, travelers can easily hire taxis to reach Jaisalmer. The closest international airport is Delhi airport that is connected to several countries.

By Road

Jaisalmer has a well-maintained roadways network. Bus services are available from Jaisalmer to all key cities in Rajasthan such as Jaipur, and Jodhpur. There is no direct bus from Delhi. From Delhi, you need to get down at Jaipur bus depot and take a bus from there to reach Jaisalmer. The total time needed to reach Jaisalmer from Jodhpur is 6-7 hours. It can take around fifteen hours to reach Jaisalmer from via cab.
