NIMHANS Brain Museum, Bangalore

National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Science’s Brain Museum is the first of its in the country. The museum displays the brains of many humans and animals for study and observation of people. The museum is situated inside the building of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Science and is thoroughly dedicated to medical science. This museum is the product of 30 years of brain donations preserved together for research. It was an initiative by Doctor SK Shankar, Professor, and Head of the Department of Neurology at the National Institute of Mental Health and NeuroScience. The donated brains were initially used only to educate medical students but were soon opened to the general public. This was done to spread awareness about organ donation.

How to reach NIMHANS Brain Museum

National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Science’s Brain Museum is situated on Hosur Main road towards the outskirts of Bangalore. Booking a cab or taking a private vehicle is the best way to reach the place. As the museum is situated a little far from the city, it can take you a couple of hours to reach.

Timings to visit NIMHANS Brain Museum

Normal timings:

10 am – 3 pm (All days)

Guided tours:

2:30 pm – 4:30 pm (Wednesday)

10:30 am – 1 pm, 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm (Saturday)
