Government Museum, Bangalore

The Government Museum of Bangalore is one of the oldest museums in the country. With great collection of artifacts, it’s one of the best places for art and history lovers to visit. The painting gallery is filled with rare paintings in the Mysore and Tanjore style and few other works in the Rajasthani style. The 18 galleries of the museum house a variety of artifacts ranging from coins, painting to 5000-year-old relics. These have been safely procured from the kingdoms of Mohenjo-Daro, Vijayanagar, and Halebid. The Karnataka State Archeological Department governs the museum and it also comes under the purview of the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums.

How to reach Government Museum

Bangalore Government Museum is situated on Kasturba road inside Cubbon Park and is easily reachable from any place in Bangalore. The Bangalore Government Museum can be reached by using the Bangalore metro to get down at the Cubbon Park Metro station and walking into the park. An alternative is to hail a cab or take the local bus to Cubbon Park.
