India's second-highest plunge waterfall, Jog Falls is a major Karnataka tourist attraction. Jog Falls is formed by the Sharavathi River, gushing down from 253 meters above sea level. The river originates in Thirthahalli taluk at Ambuthirtha, flows northwest through the Western Ghats forming the Jog Falls before joining the Arabian Sea at Honavar. These falls are also known as Gerosappa Falls or Jog Falls and are one of the most popular attractions in South India.
