Hollongi Airport: First airport in Arunachal Pradesh to open on August 15

Hollongi Airport, Arunachal Pradesh’s new airport, will open its doors on August 15. It.s marks the end of the long wait for Arunachal Pradesh to have an airport. Hollongi Airport is now operational, a new greenfield airport located 15 kilometres from Itanagar, the state’s capital.

This is excellent news for Arunachal Pradesh but also for the country. Previously, travelling to Arunachal Pradesh required long travel times, many detours, and various modes of transportation.

The nearest airport to Arunachal is the Lilabari Airport, North Lakhimpur District in Assam. Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Internation Airport in Guwahati (Assam) is the nearest international airport to Itanagar. Travellers will no longer need to fly from North Lakhimpur (which is about 80 km away from Itanagar) or take an overnight bus to the capital. Hollongi Airport will soon be operational.

Hollongi Airport will be commissioned on August 15. It will then be open to passengers. This greenfield, energy-efficient airport can accommodate up to 200 passengers at peak hours. There will be eight check-in counters at the airport. A runway of 2,300m will be available for landing and take-off of Boeing 747 aircraft.

The new airport will bring many tourists to the state. Arunachal Pradesh is a well-known destination for adventure and wildlife lovers. However, many tourists are hesitant about planning to visit Arunachal because of the poor air connectivity. The state’s new airport will make it easier for travellers to reach their destinations faster and with less hassle than detours.
