Beginning this winter, Bengaluru (BLR) will be directly linked directly to San Francisco (SFO) again since Tata Group’s owned Air India will launch a twice-weekly, nonstop service between India’s Silicon cities as well as SFO in the United States beginning in October (Winter Schedule).
The proposed flight between BLR and SFO by United keeps being delayed because Western airlines aren’t allowed to operate flights over Russian airspace, as India is able to do, this makes its highly profitable flight that is nonstop between India as well as the West Coast of America viable.
It should be noted that the proposed nonstop Bengaluru-Seattle route operated by American Airlines has not yet launched service for the same reason.
“Bengaluru will get a twice-weekly (to begin with) flight to SFO later this winter schedule,” sources told.
A nonstop flight along this route is popular. In fact when Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s trip to West Coast earlier this month Some Indian-origin American entrepreneurs complained about the absence of direct connectivity in this sector.
Air India Flights to the United States
Air India is the largest airline operating non-stop routes that connect India as well as the United States, and it continues to fly through Russian airspace. It allows its flights to travel the most efficient route.
AI recently announced it would lease the use of five Boeing Long-Range 777 (LR) planes. These former Delta planes will join Air India’s fleet from December 2023 and March 2023 which will allow them to expand the number of nonstop India-US flights.
Bengaluru will have three times per week trips to SFO following that.
The five long-range planes that are scheduled to join Air India’s fleet Air India fleet will also feature a luxury economy cabin in addition to the initial economy, business, and classes that the B777s currently offer.
AI recently announced that the five B777 LRS “will be used on routes that connect Indian metros in India to the US.
Mumbai will also see the introduction of flight services to SFO as well as each of the New York area’s international airports, Newark Liberty and John F Kennedy, and Bangalore will get an every-week route connecting to San Francisco. These aircraft will result in AI offering premium economy services for the first time.”
Air India BLR-SFO Route
Air India used to operate the route with Boeing 777 200LR long-range aircraft. It has 238 seats. These include 8 First Class 35 Business Class and 195 seats in Economy Class.
It is worth noting that Air India has set two record-breaking records with its Bengaluru San Francisco route. It’s the longest distance at more than 14,000 kilometers (8,698 miles) and the longest flight to India (over sixteen hours).
