Kozhikode – Kerala’s Coastal Heritage & Culinary Capital

Known as Calicut during colonial times, Kozhikode is a vibrant coastal city in Kerala that shaped India’s spice trade history. Vasco da Gama first landed nearby at Kappad Beach in 1498, putting the city on the global map. Today, Kozhikode is equally celebrated for its food trails, long sandy beaches, thriving markets, and warm Malabar culture. It’s a place where history, sea breezes, and food cravings blend into one unforgettable trip.

Why Visit Kozhikode?

If Kerala had a culinary capital, it would be Kozhikode. Street stalls serving Malabar biryani, banana chips fried fresh, and halwa in rainbow colors make foodies fall in love instantly. Beyond the food, the city’s heritage streets, shipbuilding tradition in Beypore, and quiet stretches of beach make it a versatile stop for travelers.
