Tour Overview

This 6 Days Wayanad, Mysuru and Coorg Nature Tour connects the forested hills of Wayanad in North Kerala with the royal heritage of Mysuru and the coffee-growing landscapes of Coorg. The tour starts from Kozhikode and ends in Mangaluru, creating a practical one-way route across Kerala and Karnataka without unnecessary backtracking.

The itinerary is well suited to travellers searching for a Wayanad Mysuru Coorg tour that combines nature, heritage and plantation scenery in less than a week. Wayanad provides waterfalls, forests and local heritage; Mysuru adds palaces, temples and planned-city architecture; and Coorg offers coffee estates, river viewpoints and a slower hill-country atmosphere before departure from Mangaluru.

This route works best when Wayanad is treated as more than a quick overnight stop. The first two nights allow time for heritage, waterfalls and a wildlife-oriented experience before crossing into Karnataka. Because Wayanad attractions are spread across winding hill roads, the day plans are intentionally selective rather than trying to cover every sightseeing point.

Wildlife experiences must remain realistic. Forest entry, safari availability and permitted zones depend on local rules, seasonal conditions and advance booking. Animal sightings are never guaranteed, and the quality of the experience also comes from the forest landscape, birdlife and interpretation by authorised guides.

Travellers with more time can extend this route to Kozhikode for Malabar heritage, Kannur for the North Kerala coast, or continue from Mangaluru towards Udupi. For more Kerala combinations, browse our Kerala tour packages.

Tour Highlights:

  • Explore Wayanad's hill scenery, heritage and seasonal waterfalls.
  • Experience a wildlife-focused outing subject to forest permits and availability.
  • Visit Mysuru's royal and cultural landmarks.
  • See the iconic Mysore Palace and selected city sights.
  • Discover Coorg's coffee-country landscape and hill viewpoints.
  • Enjoy a cross-state Kerala and Karnataka road journey.
  • Finish conveniently in Mangaluru for onward travel.

Detailed Itinerary

Arrive in Kozhikode and meet your driver for the journey to Wayanad. The route gradually climbs from the Malabar coast into the forested hills of the Western Ghats.

The changing landscape is part of the experience, with greener slopes, plantations and winding hill roads appearing as you gain elevation. Depending on arrival time, use viewpoints and refreshment stops only where practical rather than turning the transfer into a rushed sightseeing day.

On arrival, check in at your hotel or resort. If daylight remains, take a relaxed walk around the property or enjoy nearby plantation and valley views.

Planning note: Wayanad is geographically spread out. Choosing a hotel near the sightseeing zone you plan to explore can reduce unnecessary driving.

Overnight stay in Wayanad.

Kozhikode to Wayanad hill journey

After breakfast, spend the day exploring the heritage and natural attractions of Wayanad. The route can combine a selected waterfall with heritage or archaeological sightseeing depending on opening conditions and the season.

Where access is open and conditions are suitable, consider a visit to Soochipara Falls. The approach involves walking, and the path can become slippery during or after rain, so proper footwear and local safety advice are important.

For a heritage-focused stop, include a site such as the Edakkal Caves area when access is operating. The climb can be physically demanding and may not suit every traveller, so it should be treated as optional for seniors or guests with mobility concerns.

If Edakkal is not suitable, the day can instead focus on a gentler combination of viewpoints, plantation scenery, lakes or local heritage stops. The aim is to match sightseeing to the traveller rather than force every attraction into one standard route.

Return to your hotel after sightseeing and keep the evening free.

Overnight stay in Wayanad.

Wayanad heritage and waterfall sightseeing

Begin the day with a wildlife-oriented experience in or around Wayanad, subject to current forest rules, permit availability and operating schedules. The exact programme should be confirmed before travel because protected-area access can change.

If an authorised safari or forest activity is available, follow the assigned route and instructions of local staff. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, and the experience should be valued for the forest, birdlife and natural setting as much as for any animal encounter.

After the morning activity, continue across the state border to Mysuru. The journey takes you from Wayanad's forested hills into the broader plains of southern Karnataka.

On arrival in Mysuru, check in at the hotel. If time permits, enjoy an evening orientation around the city or view the illuminated palace area when appropriate to your travel date and local schedule.

Overnight stay in Mysuru.

Wayanad wildlife experience and drive to Mysuru

After breakfast, begin sightseeing in Mysuru, one of South India's most important royal cities.

Visit Mysore Palace, the city's signature landmark, with time to appreciate the interiors, courtyards and architectural detail. Opening hours, photography rules and access arrangements should be checked locally.

Depending on your interests and available time, continue to Chamundi Hill or selected city landmarks before leaving Mysuru. Active temples may have dress, queue and visitor-access rules, so the programme should remain flexible.

Later, drive to Coorg (Kodagu). The road gradually returns to greener hill country known for coffee estates, forest patches and plantation scenery.

On arrival, check in at your hotel or plantation stay and relax for the evening.

Overnight stay in Coorg.

Mysuru sightseeing and drive to Coorg

After breakfast, spend a full day exploring Coorg, one of Karnataka's best-known hill and plantation destinations.

A practical sightseeing day can include a visit to Abbey Falls when access and weather conditions are suitable. Paths near waterfalls can become slippery during the monsoon, so use appropriate footwear and follow local safety barriers.

Continue to selected viewpoints such as Raja's Seat for broad views over the surrounding hills and valleys. Timing the visit for softer morning or late-afternoon light often makes the experience more enjoyable.

One of the most valuable Coorg experiences is time in a coffee estate. Where available, choose a guided plantation visit that explains coffee cultivation, shade trees, spices and seasonal farm work rather than treating the stop as a simple retail visit.

Depending on your interests and location, additional sightseeing can be adjusted around local temples, river areas or plantation scenery. Avoid trying to cover too many widely separated attractions in one day.

Overnight stay in Coorg.

Coorg sightseeing coffee estates and Abbey Falls

After breakfast, check out from your Coorg hotel and begin the drive towards Mangaluru for your onward departure.

The route leaves the coffee-growing hills and descends towards Karnataka's coast. Departure timing should be planned with a comfortable buffer for road conditions, airport check-in or railway schedules.

If your flight or train is late in the day, a short nearby stop can be added in Mangaluru, but avoid a long excursion that could create unnecessary pressure before departure.

At the appropriate time, transfer to Mangaluru International Airport or railway station for your onward journey.

Your 6 Days Wayanad, Mysuru and Coorg Nature Tour concludes after combining Wayanad's hills and waterfalls, a realistic wildlife experience, Mysuru's royal heritage and Coorg's coffee-country landscapes.

Tour concludes in Mangaluru.
