The Indian airline, Air India, a full-service carrier owned by the Tata Group, announced on Thursday that as part of its expansion plans, it will be launching 12 weekly additional flights to Gatwick Airport in London and five additional services to Heathrow Airport in London.

According to an announcement made by the airline, it will operate direct flights to Gatwick from Indian cities such as Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Goa, and Kochi three times a week, making it the only scheduled carrier that offers direct flights to the UK’s second biggest airport at the moment.

Furthermore, Air India will be adding five more weekly flights from the national capital Delhi to Heathrow in the near future.

Additional flights from Air India to London are now available

The airline is adding five more flights to Heathrow Airport each week, increasing its frequency at the airport. Flights from Delhi will increase from 14 to 17 times per week while flights from Mumbai will increase from 12 to 14 times per week.

With its direct access to the UK’s road network, Gatwick Airport offers the same convenience as Heathrow Airport, making it easier for passengers to travel between London and South-East England. Furthermore, passengers can reach Central London in less than 30 minutes with direct rail access available 24 hours a day from the South Terminal.

Adding these new routes to the airline’s international network is part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to expand on the international aviation map, increasing its market share on international routes as a result.

Six non-stop flights to six destinations in the United States and Europe are available

It was announced in November 2022 that Air India would begin new flights connecting Mumbai with New York, Paris, and Frankfurt in February 2023, as part of their ongoing expansion plans.

In addition, Air India announced that daily nonstop flights will begin between Mumbai and New York’s JFK International Airport starting on February 14th, while the airline is also resuming its nonstop flights between Delhi and Milan, Copenhagen, and Vienna.

In a recent announcement, Air India said that it would start four weekly flights from Delhi to Milan on February 1st of 2023, as well as three weekly flights from Delhi to Vienna and Delhi to Copenhagen on February 18th and March 1st, 2023.
