From November 12, 2022, to December 4, 2022, reports indicate that the Darjeeling toy train will operate every Saturday and Sunday evening. The Ghoom Festival will also take place during these dates, and although the festival will run throughout the week, the weekend will be a time when there will be more fantastic crowds and more events.

Ticket fares

Night-time toy trains will have the same fares as day-time toy trains. Thus, the first class fare for diesel engines will be INR 1000, while the first class for steam engines will be INR 1500.

As a result, there will be no additional fare charge for the return journey from Ghoom to Darjeeling. Tickets may also be purchased at the Darjeeling railway station or on the IRCTC website.

The rides will allow visitors to experience the picturesque hill stations of West Bengal. The festival will begin on November 12, 2022, and run for three weeks.

In a report from the Times Of India, it is reported that Darjeeling Himalayan Railway will resume offering night rides on its heritage toy train after almost 141 years.

The festival will be held in Ghum, a sleepy hilltop near Darjeeling. It is located approximately 9 kilometers from Darjeeling when traveling from Siliguri. The town is situated at an elevation of 7,300 feet and is 600 meters above Darjeeling.

Darjeeling Himalayan Railways director Priyanshu also stated, “For the time being, joy rides are only available during the day. We are arranging a 1.5-hour thrill trip from Darjeeling to Ghum at night for the first time.

As part of the Ghum winter festival, which begins on Saturday, this night’s joy ride will only be offered on Saturday and Sunday.

The train will leave Darjeeling at approximately 6 p.m. and stop at Batasia Loop for about 15 minutes. Before returning to Darjeeling, the train would halt for 25 minutes at its destination (Ghum station).

Furthermore, the director claimed that tourists could eat and enjoy the cultural festival, as there would be music bands, food vendors, and talent shows, among other things.

Concerning ticket pricing, a diesel railway ticket costs Rs 1,000 per person, while a steam engine ticket costs Rs 1,500 per person.
