St. Augustine Tower Goa

St. Augustine Tower is 500meters from the famous Basilica of Old Goa. You can't miss visiting this site when you are in old Goa. 46-meter-high Augustine church tower & ruins of the church is a UNESCO world heritage site.

It, one of the most spectacular monuments of Goa was built in 1602 by 12 Augustian monks. In 1835 Portuguese expelled Augustinians resulted in the church was abandoned & later on ruined.

The church had eight chapels, four altars, and a cloister with many cells connected to it. Earlier, there were four such towers, but they couldn’t withstand over-years. Only one such tower remains now. The original style and design of the tower are still unknown.

Timings: 6.30 AM to 12.45PM & 4.30pm to 8.30pm
