Record number of passengers arrived at the Mumbai Airport since the Covid-19

A record 1,30,374 passengers passed through Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) on September 17, 2022, it’s the busiest day since the pandemic began.

With 839 flight movements, approximately 95,080 passengers passed through Terminal 2 (T2) and 35,294 passengers passed through Terminal 1 (T1).

Most passengers were carried by IndiGo, Vistara, and Go First on domestic routes.

In terms of international carriers, IndiGo, Air India, and Emirates topped the list.

Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai remained the most popular domestic destinations, while Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore were the most popular international destinations.

Mumbai International Airport attributes the increase in traffic to new destinations, increased flight movements, and increased airline capacity.

There were over 1.3 lakh passengers at CSMIA on September 18, 2022, with over 98,000 passengers travelling domestically and around 32,000 traveling internationally.

A report by credit rating agency ICRA shows that domestic traffic increased by 5% to 1.02 crore in August 2022, indicating the aviation industry is on the mend.
