The development of infrastructure for tourism Sustainable tourism and infrastructure development will be at the forefront of a conference that will be a national gathering of tourism ministers from different States and Union Territories that is set to begin on Sunday in the Himachal Pradesh capital city of Dharamshala. Federal Minister for Culture and Tourism G Kishan Reddy is the chief of the gathering scheduled to be officially inaugurated with the help of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
The conference will be held through the Ministry of Tourism from September 18-20 to address the issues affecting tourism development in India, officials stated. According to officials, officials will also discuss problems tourism-related at the G20 summit of leaders hosted by India in the coming year.
India is set to host more than 200 G20 meetings throughout its Presidency for a year of the influential organization, culminating in an annual summit scheduled for September 9-10 next year. India is expected to assume the Presidency of G20 for a year starting December 1, 2022, through November 30, 2023.
The event held in Dharamshala can be attended by the tourism ministers of the central government, ministers from different states, UTs governors, administrators, senior officials from the central government and state governments, and the leaders of tourism and hospitality associations. The Tourism Ministry said in a statement.
“The event would be attended by tourism ministers of several states and UTs, including Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Haryana, Sikkim, Goa, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Ladakh, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Maharashtra, etc. The conference is expected to be attended by approximately 250 delegates,” the statement said.
The event’s focus will be on different policies and programs from the Ministry of Tourism, including the expansion of infrastructure for tourism as well as spiritual, cultural, and heritage tourism as well as tourist attractions in Himalayan states, sustainable and responsible tourism, officials said.
The experts said the role of digital technology in marketing and promoting tourist destinations, increasing significance of hotel stays within the Indian hospitality industry, Ayurveda wellness, medical travel, and tourism promotion in India will also be addressed.
Other issues, including tourism-related elements of the G-20 conference, will also be addressed in conjunction with examining the progress made in implementing different projects that the ministry officials stated.
