There’s no better reason to pack your bags for Kerala than the first-ever indie music festival taking place on November 9-13 at Kerala Arts and Crafts Village, Kovalam. And don’t wait until the last minute.
It will also mark the start of Kerala’s annual music festival, a first for the state.
There will be 21 music bands from India and abroad participating in the Kerala Arts and Crafts Village this year. Seven international bands and singers will perform at the festival – Will Johns and Sami Chohfi from the UK, Lyia Meta from Malaysia, Anslom from Papua New Guinea, Rudra from Singapore, and Roc Flowers from Italy.
There are 14 Indian bands and singers featured in the tracks: Sherise from Mumbai, RCliff from Chicago, When Chai Met Toast from Toronto, Harish Sivaramakrishnan’s Agam from Chennai, Skreen 6 from Sri Lanka, Chaos, Lazie J, Chandana Rajesh from Chennai, Thamarassery Churam from Tamil Nadu, Inner Sanctum from Chennai, and Devan Ekambaram from Bangalore.
Having music boost tourism in the state seems like a very exciting and fun thing to look forward to, especially since it’s an indie genre. Indie music isn’t a new phenomenon in India; we do have a lot of creative indie musicians who are making big names in the field. However, in India, it is still in its infancy stage.
There is definitely something to look forward to with a festival like this. We’re looking forward to seeing some really creative musicians at this festival. We look forward to traveling for the music.
