COVID update: Sikkim relaxes travel restrictions for vaccinated tourist

The Sikkim Government announces relaxation of COVID regulations, in an effort to increase tourism and lure tourists to the state. State officials on tourism indicated that travelers receiving one vaccine shot.

However, individuals who received a single dose of vaccine will require a negative report of the RT-PCR test that should not be beyond 72 hours before the arrival time.

Tourists who took both doses of vaccines are free without limitations to enter the State. However, those below age 18 years must carry out a COVID negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours of the journey.

The government also stated that shops and business hubs will remain open until 8 p.m., rather than 5 p.m.

Tourist private cars and motorcycles are also excluded from the odd-even system of restrictions.

In the meantime, the odd-even regulation is required for private automobiles and taxis carrying local people. The government of Sikkim has officially permitted casinos in hotels to reopen for domestic clients.

In the meantime, on Friday, after a positive test of 150 residents, Sikkim’s COVID number increased to 28425. According to the health bulletin, 81 new cases have been reported by South Sikkim, 36 new cases were reported by West Sikkim, and 33 new cases by East Sikkim.
