Well Organized Trip
We appreciated our travel designer (Ovijit) was able to customize our trip to add in additional stops and tailor our hotels to what we were looking for.
This 6-day Tokyo and Mt. Fuji itinerary is designed for travellers who want a short but varied introduction to eastern Japan. Spend three nights exploring Tokyo, including a day trip to Kamakura, before travelling toward Mt. Fuji and the mountain landscapes of Hakone.
The route combines modern Tokyo, historic Kamakura and an overnight hot-spring region without adding unnecessary long-distance travel. Returning to Tokyo for the final night keeps departure planning simple for international visitors using the city’s major airports.
This itinerary works particularly well for travellers visiting Japan as part of a wider Asia trip, those with limited annual leave, or guests who want Tokyo and Mt. Fuji without continuing to Kyoto and Osaka.
Kamakura adds temples and coastal atmosphere while using Tokyo as the base, and Hakone provides a slower final section with lake, mountain and hot-spring scenery.
The trip can be customized around hotel category, private guiding, food interests, family travel, museum visits, ryokan preferences or additional nights in Tokyo.
This itinerary is ideal for first-time visitors with less than a week in Japan, couples, families and travellers combining Japan with another Asian destination.
Arrive in Tokyo and transfer to your hotel. Keep the first day light so you can recover from the international journey and adjust to the local time.
If your flight arrives early enough, take an easy walk around your hotel area, enjoy a local meal, or visit a nearby neighbourhood without committing to a long sightseeing programme.
The main sightseeing begins the following morning, giving you a more comfortable start to a short Japan trip.
Overnight stay in Tokyo.
Spend a full day exploring Tokyo, balancing traditional and modern districts. A first-time route may include Asakusa and Senso-ji, the Imperial Palace area, and a contemporary district such as Shibuya or Shinjuku.
The sightseeing can be adjusted around food, shopping, museums, architecture or pop culture. Tokyo is large, so the day is best organised by neighbourhood rather than crossing the city repeatedly.
Travellers who want more city time can extend the itinerary with additional Tokyo tours before or after this journey.
Overnight stay in Tokyo.
Take a day trip from Tokyo to Kamakura, a coastal city known for temples, shrines and the Great Buddha. The excursion gives you a quieter cultural contrast to the capital without requiring another hotel change.
A balanced day can include the Great Buddha, Hase-dera, one or two additional temples, and time to walk through the local streets before returning to Tokyo.
The exact sightseeing can be adjusted according to opening hours, weather and your preferred pace.
Overnight stay in Tokyo.
Leave Tokyo for the Mt. Fuji and Hakone region. Depending on weather and operating conditions, the day can include a Fuji-viewing area, Lake Ashi, Owakudani, the Hakone Ropeway or another local attraction.
Mt. Fuji visibility depends on cloud and weather conditions, so clear views can never be guaranteed. The region is still rewarding for its mountain scenery, lake landscapes and hot-spring atmosphere.
Stay overnight in Hakone or the surrounding area, with the option to include a traditional ryokan or onsen-style experience.
Overnight stay in Hakone or the Mt. Fuji region.
Enjoy a relaxed morning in the Hakone area before returning to Tokyo. Depending on the previous day’s programme, you may use the morning for a lake view, museum, short walk or additional local sightseeing.
Return to Tokyo in the afternoon and check in for your final night. Use the remaining time for shopping, food or a neighbourhood you did not visit earlier.
Returning to Tokyo before departure gives the itinerary a more comfortable finish than trying to connect directly from Hakone to an international flight.
Overnight stay in Tokyo.
After breakfast, check out and transfer to the airport or rail station for your onward journey.
If your departure is later in the day, the schedule can allow a final local walk, shopping stop or relaxed meal without creating unnecessary risk for your flight connection.
Your 6-day Tokyo and Mt. Fuji journey ends after combining city sightseeing, a Kamakura excursion and an overnight stay in the Hakone region.
