6 Days Bastar Culture & Waterfalls Tour

5 Nights / 6 Days Private & Customisable
Raipur · Kanker · Jagdalpur · Chitrakote · Tirathgarh · Kanger Valley · Raipur

Bastar rewards travellers who enjoy landscapes and conversations more than a crowded sightseeing checklist. This six-day private route begins in Raipur and follows the road south through Kanker to Jagdalpur, with time for a stop in Kondagaon, an area known for skilled metalworkers and other craftspeople. Instead of covering the whole state, the tour concentrates on the region's waterfall country, workshops and everyday cultural heritage.

From Jagdalpur, explore Chitrakote Falls on the Indravati River, then travel into the Kanger Valley area to see Tirathgarh Falls and accessible forest scenery. The two falls are very different, and their appearance changes between the wet and dry seasons. A thoughtfully arranged artisan visit can reveal the patience behind Bastar bell-metal and wrought-iron work, but participation and photography always depend on the host's consent. The tour also makes space for the return road journey to Raipur instead of promising rushed sightseeing on departure day. Cave entry, forest access and viewpoints depend on permits, local advice and the weather.

Tour Highlights

  • Kanker countryside and the journey into the Bastar region.
  • Kondagaon craft traditions and optional artisan-led workshop visit.
  • Broad Chitrakote Falls on the Indravati River.
  • Tirathgarh Falls and Kanger Valley landscapes.
  • A practical six-day road itinerary with two nights focused on Jagdalpur outings.

6-Day Chhattisgarh Itinerary

Meet your driver in Raipur and depart south towards Kanker. Travellers arriving by air should arrange a morning arrival or add a pre-tour hotel night; this is not a good day to schedule a late flight followed by a long drive. The route passes through farmland and wooded stretches before reaching Kanker. If you arrive early, take a short walk near Gadiya Pahad or another locally accessible viewpoint. Otherwise, settle into the hotel and prepare for the next day's journey.

Overnight in Kanker.

Raipur to Kanker — Begin the Bastar Road Journey – 6 Days Bastar Culture & Waterfalls Tour

Continue towards Jagdalpur, stopping in Kondagaon if a local workshop can be visited without disturbing ongoing work. The district is known for bell-metal, wrought-iron, terracotta and bamboo crafts. A guide can explain the making process and give you a chance to purchase directly from artisans if you wish. Reach Jagdalpur later in the day. Keep the evening free for a relaxed meal or a market stroll, since the next two days are devoted to the region's natural attractions.

Overnight in Jagdalpur.

Drive out to Chitrakote Falls, roughly west of Jagdalpur, and spend time at the designated viewpoints. The Indravati River can spread across a broad horseshoe-shaped edge after rainfall; in a drier period, its separate curtains of water become more visible. Your guide can explain seasonal changes and help choose safe photography spots. If road and time permit, add a low-key heritage or village-side stop on the way back, with local permission. Return to Jagdalpur for the night; boating is never assumed to be available.

Overnight in Jagdalpur.

Today takes you to a forested landscape around Tirathgarh Falls and Kanger Valley National Park. The cascades drop down stepped rock formations and can require careful walking; choose how far to go based on the conditions. Local permissions determine which roads and park sections visitors may use. Kotumsar or other caves are optional only when officially open and safely accessible, as wet weather can close them. Return to Jagdalpur in the afternoon, perhaps stopping at a local craft market if time remains.

Overnight in Jagdalpur.

After breakfast, make the substantial drive back to Raipur with sensible meal and comfort stops. Do not plan a tightly timed sightseeing appointment or a same-day international flight after this transfer. If traffic is light and you reach the city early, enjoy a free evening or an optional short orientation visit. Overnight in Raipur ensures a more reliable onward departure on Day 6.

Overnight in Raipur.

Jagdalpur to Raipur — Overland Return – 6 Days Bastar Culture & Waterfalls Tour

Transfer to Raipur Airport or the railway station for your onward journey. This compact itinerary covers Bastar's two headline waterfalls and a taste of its craft heritage while reserving enough time for the road links. For visitors wanting to add Sirpur and Bhoramdeo, the 10-day Chhattisgarh cultural tour offers a broader route.

Tour concludes.
