Maldives Records Highest Single Day Tourist Arrivals Since Borders Reopen

On Saturday, October 16th, 2021, the Maldives’ tourism industry hit a new milestone when over 6000 tourists came in a single day.

The Maldives Tourism Ministry congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments via Twitter.

“#NewRecord since Maldives reopened its borders. On 16th October 2021 Maldives welcomed 6,197 tourists, the highest on a single day since borders reopened on 15th July 2020. Congratulations to all who are passionately contributing towards Maldives’ tourism recovery.

 

With almost 923,000 visitors so far, the number of tourists arriving has already exceeded 90% of the budget for this year.

The Maldives was one of the first countries to reopen its borders to tourists, according to the Maldivian government, and 93 percent of resort staff are completely vaccinated against COVID-19.
