Gondola Ride in Gulmarg, Kashmir

The Cable Car Corporation had already set up a gondola lift in Gulmarg, which has been a huge success. This has encouraged the Corporation to explore the possibility of setting up cable cars in other picturesque locations in the state, including Pahalgam. The Corporation had surveyed at least four probable sites for the project, and after careful consideration, they have decided to go ahead with the route from Yatri Niwas to Bai Saran.

Yatri Niwas is a property of the J&K Tourism Development Corporation and is a popular tourist destination. The route from Yatri Niwas to Bai Saran is surrounded by snow-clad mountains and pine forests, making it a perfect spot for cable cars.

The aerial length of the route will be just 2 km, which is relatively shorter than the Gulmarg gondola. Bai Saran’s elevation is roughly the same as the first phase of the Gulmarg gondola in north Kashmir’s Baramulla, which takes visitors around 2.5 km to Kongdori at a height of 8,530 ft.

No Trees Will Be Cut for the Project

The Cable Car Corporation has made it clear that no trees will be cut for the project. This is a commendable move, considering the damage that has been caused to the environment in the past due to developmental activities. The Corporation is hopeful of getting clearance from the stakeholders and is confident that the project will be approved.

Impact on Tourism

The addition of cable cars in Pahalgam is expected to boost tourism in the region. It will provide tourists with a new way to explore the beautiful landscape of Pahalgam. The cable cars will also be a major attraction for adventure seekers who visit Pahalgam for trekking and mountaineering.

Conclusion

The Cable Car Corporation’s decision to set up cable cars in Pahalgam is a step in the right direction. The addition of cable cars will provide tourists with a new way to explore the beautiful landscape of Pahalgam. It will also boost tourism in the region, which will have a positive impact on the local economy. The Corporation’s decision to not cut any trees for the project is commendable and shows its commitment to protecting the environment.
