Detailed Itinerary
Welcome to Kashmir. On arrival at Srinagar Airport, meet the Tusk Travel representative outside the terminal and transfer by private vehicle to your selected hotel or houseboat in Srinagar.
If the flight arrives early enough, begin with selected Srinagar sightseeing. Visit one or two Mughal gardens, such as Nishat Bagh or Shalimar Bagh, and see the lakeside setting beneath the Zabarwan Mountains. Garden selection and visiting order will depend on opening hours, traffic and seasonal conditions.
Later, enjoy a private Shikara ride on Dal Lake when weather and lake conditions are suitable. Travellers arriving on a late flight can take the boat ride on the final Srinagar evening instead. Overnight in Srinagar.
After breakfast, travel through the Sindh Valley to Sonamarg, often called the Meadow of Gold. The journey generally takes two to three hours each way, depending on traffic, road conditions and stops.
Spend time enjoying the mountain scenery and riverside landscape. During the accessible season, an optional visit towards Thajiwas Glacier may be arranged using locally regulated transport or pony services. These services are normally paid locally unless specifically included in the confirmed package.
Return to Srinagar in the late afternoon. Sonamarg road access can be restricted during periods of heavy snow, avalanche risk or official traffic control. If the excursion is not safely possible, an alternative Kashmir sightseeing programme will be arranged. Overnight in Srinagar.
Check out after breakfast and drive to Pahalgam, a mountain resort beside the Lidder River. The journey commonly takes around three to four hours, excluding sightseeing and meal stops.
Depending on the season, pause near Pampore to see the saffron-growing area, although flowering is limited to a short autumn period. Continue past the countryside of South Kashmir and, if time permits, visit the remains of the ancient temple complex at Awantipora.
Arrive in Pahalgam and check in at the hotel. Spend the remaining time walking near the river or enjoying the surrounding pine-covered landscape. Keep a warm layer accessible because evening temperatures can fall quickly in the valley. Overnight in Pahalgam.
Use the morning to explore the Pahalgam area. Popular options include Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari, subject to weather, road access and local regulations. Access to these side valleys may require vehicles operated by the local transport union.
Local-union transport, pony rides and adventure activities are not assumed to be included unless clearly listed in the final quotation. Pony handlers should agree on the route, duration and total price before the ride begins.
Later, begin the substantial drive to Gulmarg. Travel time is commonly five to six hours, depending on traffic and conditions around Srinagar and Tangmarg. Arrive and check in for the night. Overnight in Gulmarg.
Spend the morning exploring Gulmarg's meadow and mountain setting. When operating, take the Gulmarg Gondola towards Kongdori or Apharwat according to the confirmed ticket phase, allocated time and prevailing weather conditions.
Gondola tickets should be reserved through the official booking system as early as the applicable booking window allows. Operation can be suspended because of high winds, snow, technical checks or scheduled maintenance, and unused sightseeing time cannot guarantee an alternative mountain ascent.
Later, drive back to Srinagar, normally taking two to three hours. Check in at the hotel or houseboat specified in the confirmed itinerary. If the Day 1 Shikara ride was missed and conditions permit, it may be arranged this evening. Overnight in Srinagar.
Enjoy breakfast and check out according to the hotel's departure policy. The day's programme will be planned around the confirmed flight time and the additional security procedures commonly required at Srinagar Airport.
If the flight departs later in the day, complete any Srinagar sightseeing not covered on arrival. Possible visits include a Mughal garden, Hazratbal Shrine from the permitted visitor areas or a local handicraft centre chosen according to genuine interest rather than compulsory shopping.

April to June is popular for gardens, green valleys and comfortable sightseeing. July to September suits travellers interested in summer landscapes, while October brings cooler weather and autumn colours. December to February is better for snow experiences in Gulmarg, but winter weather can disrupt Sonamarg access and road travel. Snowfall is natural and cannot be guaranteed for specific dates.
Sonamarg is most reliably accessible during the warmer months. Heavy snowfall, avalanche risk, snow clearance or official traffic restrictions may affect the road during winter and early spring. Access conditions can change close to the travel date. If Sonamarg cannot be visited safely, the day can be replaced with additional Srinagar sightseeing or another accessible excursion.
Gondola tickets are included only when specifically mentioned in the final quotation. Tickets should be booked through the official system for the selected phase and time slot.
