The journey begins in Srinagar, where Dal Lake, traditional houseboats, Mughal gardens and the surrounding mountains introduce visitors to the Kashmir Valley. Two nights in Pahalgam provide time for the Lidder River, pine forests and optional excursions towards Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari without treating Pahalgam as a rushed day trip.
The route then continues to Gulmarg for its mountain scenery, seasonal snow activities and famous Gondola cable car. After returning to Srinagar, the final excursion travels through the Sind Valley to Sonamarg, subject to weather and road access. The trip ends with a transfer to Srinagar Airport.

Who Is This Kashmir Itinerary Best For?
This itinerary is suitable for travellers who want a balanced introduction to Kashmir without changing hotels every night. The two-night Pahalgam stay gives families and older travellers more breathing room, while the Gulmarg overnight stay creates a better opportunity to plan the Gondola ride and enjoy the destination outside peak day-trip hours.
Visitors looking for a slower holiday can add another night in Srinagar or Gulmarg. Travellers visiting during winter should expect a different experience, with snow activities replacing meadow walks and possible changes to the Sonamarg excursion.
Understanding the Overnight Route
This is not a series of four day trips from Srinagar. The planned route includes two nights in Pahalgam and one night in Gulmarg, reducing repeated road travel. Sonamarg is visited as a return excursion from Srinagar rather than an overnight stop.
Typical driving times are approximately two and a half to three and a half hours from Srinagar to Pahalgam, four to five hours from Pahalgam to Gulmarg, and one and a half to two and a half hours from Gulmarg to Srinagar. The Sonamarg excursion normally requires a full day because the road journey takes several hours in each direction.
Local Sightseeing and Transport
Your main tour vehicle handles intercity transfers, but certain local sightseeing routes may operate through destination-based transport arrangements. In Pahalgam, visits towards Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwari may require a locally authorized vehicle. Similar restrictions or separate arrangements may apply to selected areas around Gulmarg and Sonamarg.
Ask the travel planner to state clearly whether local taxis, pony rides, chain vehicles, snow vehicles and attraction tickets are included. This prevents confusion when optional sightseeing is selected after reaching the destination.
Planning the Gulmarg Gondola
The Gulmarg Gondola operates in stages and remains subject to ticket availability, weather, wind, maintenance and local operating decisions. A confirmed Kashmir package does not automatically mean Gondola tickets are included.
Reserve genuine tickets through the authorized booking channel and verify the passenger names, date and selected phase. Do not assume that the upper section will operate simply because the first section is open. Weather at the higher station can be very different from conditions in Gulmarg town.

Detailed Itinerary
Arrive in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir. On arrival at the airport, our representative will meet you and assist with your transfer to the houseboat or hotel.
After check-in, begin a gentle introduction to Srinagar with visits to the beautiful Mughal Gardens, known for their terraced lawns, fountains, and mountain backdrop. Later, enjoy a relaxing Shikara ride on Dal Lake, one of the most iconic experiences in Kashmir.
Overnight stay in Srinagar houseboat.
After breakfast, drive to Pahalgam, also known as the “Valley of Shepherds”. The journey is scenic, passing through countryside views, saffron fields, apple orchards, pine forests, and small Kashmiri villages.
On arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the evening at leisure. You may take a peaceful walk near the Lidder River or explore the local market surrounded by mountains and valley views.
Overnight stay in Pahalgam.
After breakfast, enjoy a full day exploring the scenic valleys around Pahalgam. Visit Betaab Valley, famous for its green meadows, river views, and dramatic mountain setting. Continue to Chandanwari, a peaceful valley known for snow views during the season and its connection with the Amarnath Yatra route.
Later, visit Aru Valley, a quiet mountain village surrounded by forests and alpine scenery. Depending on local conditions, you may enjoy an optional pony ride or spend time walking near the Lidder River. You may also visit the historic Awantipura Ruins en route if time permits.
Overnight stay in Pahalgam.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Gulmarg, one of Kashmir’s most famous hill destinations. Known as the “Meadow of Flowers”, Gulmarg is surrounded by pine forests, open meadows, and snow-covered peaks during winter.
On arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day enjoying the peaceful setting. You can walk through the meadows, enjoy photography, or simply relax while taking in the mountain views.
Dinner and overnight stay in Gulmarg.
After breakfast, explore the highlights of Gulmarg. The destination is well known for its scenic ski slopes, high-altitude golf course, walking trails, and postcard-perfect mountain views.
You may enjoy the famous Gondola Cable Car Ride, one of the most popular experiences in Kashmir. Optional pony rides and local walks can also be arranged depending on weather and availability. Later, drive back to Srinagar.
Overnight stay in Srinagar houseboat.
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to Sonmarg, also called the “Meadow of Gold”. The drive offers beautiful views of forests, rivers, alpine scenery, and dramatic mountain landscapes.
On arrival, spend time enjoying the natural surroundings. You may take an optional pony ride to Thajiwas Glacier or enjoy seasonal adventure activities such as sledging and river rafting, subject to weather and local permissions. Later, return to Srinagar.
Overnight stay in Srinagar.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel or houseboat and transfer to Srinagar Airport for your onward journey. Your Kashmir tour ends with beautiful memories of Dal Lake, Pahalgam valleys, Gulmarg meadows, Sonmarg landscapes, and warm local hospitality.
