All of this began in the year 1992. On July 7, Willy Blazer, the Vice Chancellor & Head of the Swiss Chancery in India at the time, called Khajjiar a “mini-Switzerland”. The place looked a lot like Switzerland from a geographical point of view, which made him think of the comparison. The distance between Khajjiar and Bern was marked on a notice board erected in his direction.

A stone from Khajjiar was included in the stone collage next to the Swiss Parliament as a memento of the mini Switzerland hundreds of miles away, with which the artist was so captivated.
