India introduced Ayush visa to promote Medical Tourism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new category of Ayush Visas for tourists who is seeking medical treatment in India or for tourism.

According to reports, the initiative was launched by the government as part of its Heal In India campaign to promote medical tourism in India. Government officials are planning to launch a special Ayush mark soon to ensure local Ayush products are authentic.

The PM said that India is a very attractive destination for medical tourism and that the medical industry in Kerala is contributing to the growth of Kerala’s tourism industry. Similarly, Ayurveda, Yunani, and Siddha forms of traditional medicine can become very popular across the country with this model, Prime Minister Narendra Modi added.

In order to ease visa processes for foreign travelers who want to receive medical treatment in India and possess a medical tourism visa, the government has created a special category, he said.

Prime Minister Modi also announced that Ayush products will be branded with a special mark just like the BSI and ISI marks. According to him, consumers in other countries will be able to have access to Ayush products that are acknowledged and high-quality assured. He announced that an Ayush Park would be established where these products would be manufactured.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, ayurvedic medicines, Ayush Kadha, and many other products helped people boost immunity, insinuating that the idea of an Ayush summit had come to him. In addition, reports indicate that during the time of COVID-19, turmeric exports from India increased remarkably.
