Himachal Pradesh has set up new Heliports to Increase Tourism

Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, recently inaugurated a helicopter port at Rampur in Shimla. He said that the government had taken many initiatives to attract tourists to unexplored regions and is currently working towards developing a network of heliports to improve air connectivity throughout the state.

Further, he stated that work at Shimla heliport, near Sanjauli bypass, Baddi, Solan district, and Rampur had been completed under UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik). According to reports, operations for helicopter service will soon begin at these locations.

Further, the Chief Minister stated that the Kangnidhar heliport in Mandi was close to completion, and another one is under development at Manali.

Further, the CM stated that the heli-taxi service on Shimla- Rampur – Shimla route was launched in December 2021 and that flights are already operating thrice per week. The one-way fare per passenger, a passenger, is INR 3275, he stated.

He added that the government had just submitted a proposal to extend helicopter service to Chamba and Reckong Peo.

According to reports, there are 64 helipads within the state. Thirty-eight new ones are currently being developed, said the Chief Minister. He stated that flights on the Delhi-Shimla/Delhi route are also being restored.
