Reopening of Savarmati ashram after 10 months

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the scenario of the whole world. This threat has thrilled the whole world. With the beginning of the pandemic In India in March 2020, all the historical places and other important areas were closed. The country observed a total lockdown for a long period.

Similarly, Sabarmati Ashram is Gujarat also faced the same thing. On 18th March the trustee Board members of the Ashram decided to close the Ashram for the visitors. This decision was mainly taken as safety and precautionary measures. We all know that every year a lot of visitors from various corners of the world come to this place. They want to explore the most important place of Gandhiji. It was perhaps the first time when the ashram was closed for the visitors. This was a bad moment for travel lovers.

It was found that even during the 1917-1918 pandemic the ashram was a great hub for activity for the people. However, during the time the situation became so serious that people had no options. Each day about 3,000 visitors come to this ashram but after the reopening of the Ashram on 4th January, only 800 to 1,000 visitors are coming to this place. This is a great loss for the tourism industry.

During the outbreak of the plague, this ashram was the main place and base. But during the time, the authorities had to close it completely. The ashram was constructed by Gandhiji in a beautiful ambiance. The visitors get complete peace of mind after arriving at this place.

However, the reopening of the Ashram is a bring challenge for the members. They have taken a lot of precautions and safety measures for the tourists. They are trying to obey and maintain Governmental guidelines as much as possible.
