For most first-time visitors, one night is enough when Day 3 includes Agra Fort and Day 4 starts with the Taj Mahal at sunrise before continuing to Jaipur. A second Agra night adds less value than an extra night in Shimla, especially on a package built around the toy-train and hill-station experience.

The full heritage railway starts at Kalka and runs to Shimla. UNESCO lists the Kalka–Shimla Railway as part of the Mountain Railways of India World Heritage property.
