Starting from Guwahati, the route reaches Shillong before continuing through Mawphlang, Mawsynram, Mawlyngbna, Cherrapunji and Dawki.

Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati Airport or railway station and meet your driver for the journey towards Shillong.
Leave the Assam plains and gradually climb into the Khasi Hills, passing wooded slopes and hill settlements.
Stop at Umiam Lake if weather and daylight permit.
On arrival in Shillong, check in at your hotel and spend the evening at leisure.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, drive from Shillong to Mawphlang.
Explore the Mawphlang Sacred Forest with a local guide where available and learn about the traditional beliefs that have helped protect the grove.
Follow local rules carefully and do not remove any leaves, stones, flowers or other natural material from the sacred forest.
Continue to nearby village or heritage areas if open and appropriate for the day.
Return to Shillong by evening.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
Leave Shillong after breakfast and travel towards Mawsynram.
The route passes open plateau landscapes, valleys and rural Khasi settlements.
Explore selected viewpoints, village areas and natural formations according to weather and local access.
If a cave or guided nature walk is included, use footwear with good grip because surfaces may be wet and uneven.
Check in at local accommodation and enjoy a quieter evening away from Shillong.
Overnight stay in Mawsynram or nearby.
After breakfast, continue deeper into the southern Khasi Hills towards Mawlyngbna.
Mawlyngbna is better experienced as a nature and village destination rather than a conventional sightseeing stop.
Depending on weather and local arrangements, include a guided walk to selected rock formations, viewpoints or the Mawsiangjroi crevice area.
Outdoor experiences should only be undertaken with appropriate local guidance and when trail conditions are considered suitable.
Spend time in the village setting and enjoy the slower pace of this less-visited part of Meghalaya.
Overnight stay in Mawlyngbna or nearby.
Begin the morning with a short local walk or village experience around Mawlyngbna if weather permits.
Later, begin the drive towards Cherrapunji.
The journey passes through rain-shaped plateaus and valley landscapes, with changing visibility depending on cloud and weather.
On arrival in Cherrapunji, visit a nearby viewpoint if time allows.
Check in at your hotel and rest.
Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.
Spend a full day exploring Cherrapunji.
Visit selected waterfalls and viewpoints such as Nohkalikai Falls when local visibility and access are suitable.
Explore a publicly accessible limestone cave if included in the final programme. Wear footwear with good grip because cave floors may be wet and uneven.
Use the afternoon for additional valley viewpoints, village areas or a quieter nature stop rather than trying to cover every attraction.
Waterfall volume and long-distance views vary considerably by season.
Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.
After breakfast, leave Cherrapunji and travel towards Mawlynnong.
Walk through the village respectfully and visit a nearby living root bridge where included in the programme.
Continue to Dawki and the Umngot River.
A boat ride can be included only when local operators are running and weather and water conditions are considered suitable.
Spend the evening around Dawki or nearby Shnongpdeng for a quieter riverside stay.
Overnight stay in Dawki or Shnongpdeng.
After breakfast, check out from your Dawki-area accommodation and begin the return journey towards Guwahati.
Travel through the Khasi Hills and gradually descend towards the Assam plains.
Keep a comfortable buffer before your onward flight or train because weather and traffic can affect travel time.
Transfer to Guwahati Airport or railway station for departure.
Your 8 Days Meghalaya Nature and Village Tour concludes after exploring Shillong, Mawphlang, Mawsynram, Mawlyngbna, Cherrapunji and Dawki.
