This 7 Days Complete Meghalaya Tour is designed for first-time travellers who want a well-paced introduction to the state’s most important landscapes and cultural regions. Starting from Guwahati, the route includes Shillong, Cherrapunji, Mawlynnong, Dawki, Krang Suri Falls and Mawphlang before returning to Guwahati.
The itinerary targets search intent for a 7 days Meghalaya itinerary, complete Meghalaya tour package, Shillong Cherrapunji Dawki tour and Meghalaya tour from Guwahati. It combines waterfalls, root bridges, Khasi villages, river scenery, sacred forest traditions and hill viewpoints without making the route unnecessarily rushed.
Meghalaya is highly seasonal. Waterfall volume, river clarity and valley visibility change with rainfall, cloud cover and time of year. The itinerary should therefore remain flexible enough to adjust individual sightseeing stops when conditions are poor.
Dawki and nearby river activities depend on local operations, water level and weather. Boating should only be included when considered safe locally, and crystal-clear water should never be guaranteed throughout the year.
Mawphlang Sacred Forest has deep cultural significance for Khasi communities. Travellers should follow local guidance carefully and avoid removing any natural material from the forest.
This itinerary can be extended with Mawsynram, Nongkhnum Island or other Meghalaya tour packages for a longer journey.

Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati Airport or railway station and meet your driver for the journey towards Shillong.
Leave the Assam plains and gradually climb into the Khasi Hills, where the landscape changes to rolling green slopes, forest patches and hill settlements.
Stop at Umiam Lake if weather and daylight permit. The lake viewpoint provides a comfortable break before entering Shillong.
On arrival, check in at your hotel. Spend the evening at leisure or explore a nearby market depending on your arrival time.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
Spend the day exploring Shillong and selected attractions around Meghalaya’s capital.
Visit suitable viewpoints, gardens, cultural attractions and market areas according to current opening conditions and your interests.
A visit to Shillong Peak or another hill viewpoint can be included when access and visibility are suitable.
Spend some time in the local market area to experience the city beyond its scenic stops.
Keep the evening relaxed before the next day’s drive to Cherrapunji.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, leave Shillong and drive towards Cherrapunji, traditionally known as Sohra.
The route passes rolling plateau landscapes, deep valleys and several natural viewpoints. Stop where cloud and visibility conditions are suitable.
Visit selected waterfalls such as Nohkalikai Falls and other major scenic points according to season and local access.
Explore a publicly accessible limestone cave if included in the final programme. Cave surfaces can be uneven and slippery, so footwear with good grip is recommended.
Check in at your hotel after sightseeing and enjoy a quiet evening in Sohra.
Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.
After breakfast, leave Cherrapunji and travel towards Mawlynnong, one of southern Meghalaya’s better-known Khasi villages.
Walk through the village respectfully and continue to a nearby living root bridge where included in the programme.
Living root bridge approaches can involve steps and slippery surfaces after rain. Travellers should wear comfortable footwear and avoid rushing on wet sections.
Continue to Dawki and the Umngot River. A boat ride can be included only when local operations and weather conditions permit.
Spend the evening around Dawki or nearby Shnongpdeng for a quieter riverside experience.
Overnight stay in Dawki or Shnongpdeng.
After breakfast, leave Dawki and travel towards Krang Suri Falls in the Jaintia Hills region.
Walk to the accessible waterfall viewing area and enjoy the surrounding landscape. The trail can be slippery after rain.
Swimming or entering the water should only be considered where officially permitted and when local safety conditions allow.
Continue towards Shillong after the visit.
Check in at your hotel and relax for the evening.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
Today travel from Shillong to Mawphlang, one of the best-known Khasi cultural landscapes near the city.
Explore the Mawphlang Sacred Forest with a local guide where available and learn about traditional Khasi beliefs connected with the forest.
Visitors should follow local rules carefully and should not remove leaves, stones, flowers or other natural objects from the sacred forest.
Depending on available time, combine the excursion with nearby village landscapes or another suitable cultural stop.
Return to Shillong and spend the final evening at leisure.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, check out from your Shillong hotel and begin the return drive to Guwahati.
If Umiam Lake was not visited on arrival day, a short stop can be included depending on weather and your departure schedule.
Continue towards Guwahati and keep a comfortable time buffer before your flight or train.
Transfer to Guwahati Airport or railway station for departure.
