Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport or railway station and meet your driver for the transfer to Kovalam.
On arrival, check in at your beach hotel or resort and take some time to rest. The first day is deliberately light so you can settle in comfortably after your journey.
Later, walk towards Lighthouse Beach, the best-known part of Kovalam. Spend time along the waterfront and enjoy the coastal atmosphere without rushing into a full sightseeing programme.
If the weather is clear, sunset is a good introduction to South Kerala's coast. Follow local sea-safety advice before swimming, especially during periods of rough surf.
Overnight stay in Kovalam.
After breakfast, spend a full day exploring Kovalam. Begin at Lighthouse Beach before continuing along the coast.
Visit Hawa Beach and Samudra Beach, which provide different coastal settings and can be quieter than the main lighthouse area.
Keep the afternoon flexible for beach time, a coastal walk or an optional Ayurveda treatment at a reputable centre. Kovalam works best when some unstructured time is left in the programme.
Sea conditions vary during the year. During monsoon or rough-water periods, swimming may be restricted even when the beach remains accessible.
Return to your hotel in the evening and relax.

After breakfast, check out from Kovalam and travel north to Varkala. The relatively compact transfer keeps the day comfortable and gives you enough time to enjoy the destination after arrival.
Check in at your hotel and begin with a walk along Varkala Cliff. The elevated promenade overlooking the Arabian Sea is what makes Varkala visually different from Kovalam.
Continue towards Papanasam Beach and enjoy the late-afternoon coastal atmosphere. The beach is also associated with religious rituals, so visitors should be respectful around ceremonial areas.
If temple heritage interests you, you can visit the area around Janardhana Swamy Temple, subject to current dress, access and visitor eligibility rules.
Finish the day with sunset from the cliff if weather permits.
Overnight stay in Varkala.
After breakfast, check out from Varkala and continue north to Alleppey. The landscape gradually changes from open coast to Kerala's low-lying canal and backwater region.
On arrival, check in at your hotel or backwater resort and take some time to rest. Keeping this as a separate arrival day makes the houseboat experience tomorrow less rushed.
Later, enjoy a short local canal-side walk or an optional small-boat experience if weather, water conditions and local schedules permit.
Alleppey is not only about houseboats. The surrounding canals, village homes, paddy landscapes and daily water-based transport are part of the wider backwater experience.

After breakfast, board your pre-booked Alleppey houseboat according to the operator's check-in schedule.
Settle into your cabin and begin cruising through the backwaters. Watch coconut groves, village homes, narrow waterways, local ferries and low-lying paddy fields as the boat moves through the region.
Meals are generally prepared onboard according to the booked plan. Vegetarian, vegan, allergy-related or other dietary requirements should be communicated before boarding.
Houseboats normally cruise during permitted daylight hours and remain moored later in the day. Exact routes and docking points depend on local navigation, water levels and operating conditions.

Overnight stay on an Alleppey houseboat.
After breakfast on the houseboat, complete the morning cruise and disembark according to the operator's schedule.
Meet your driver and continue to Kochi. Your departure transfer will be arranged around your flight or train timing.
If you have a late departure, a short Fort Kochi or shopping stop can be considered, but avoid a distant excursion on the final day.
At the appropriate time, transfer to Kochi International Airport or railway station for your onward journey.
