6 Days Hemkund Sahib with Badrinath Yatra

5 Nights / 6 Days Haridwar / Rishikesh – Joshimath – Govindghat – Ghangaria – Hemkund Sahib – Badrinath – Rudraprayag / Srinagar – Haridwar / Rishikesh

Tour Overview

This 6-day Hemkund Sahib with Badrinath Yatra is designed for pilgrims seeking a focused spiritual journey through the Garhwal Himalayas. Starting from Haridwar or Rishikesh, the route covers Joshimath, Govindghat, Ghangaria, Hemkund Sahib, Badrinath Temple and Mana Village, combining Sikh pilgrimage, Hindu temple darshan and the dramatic mountain scenery of Uttarakhand.

Hemkund Sahib is one of the highest Sikh pilgrimage sites in India and is closely associated with Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The sacred gurudwara sits beside Hemkund Lake at a high Himalayan altitude and is surrounded by snow-covered peaks, alpine meadows and peaceful mountain landscapes.

The journey to Hemkund Sahib begins from Govindghat or Pulna and continues to Ghangaria, the main base for Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers travellers. Pilgrims can complete the route on foot or choose available pony, porter or helicopter services, depending on weather, availability and local regulations.

After Hemkund Sahib darshan, the tour continues to Badrinath, one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand. Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is located on the banks of the Alaknanda River, surrounded by the majestic Himalayan ranges.

This Hemkund Sahib and Badrinath itinerary is suitable for spiritually motivated travellers who are reasonably fit for mountain travel and trekking. Because the route passes through high-altitude terrain, road conditions, helicopter operations, temple access and trek timings remain subject to weather and local authority guidelines.

Detailed Itinerary

Your Hemkund Sahib with Badrinath Yatra begins with pickup from Haridwar or Rishikesh. Drive towards Joshimath through the scenic Garhwal Himalayan region, following the holy river valleys of the Ganga and Alaknanda.

En route, stop at Devprayag, the sacred confluence where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers meet to form the River Ganga. Continue towards Rudraprayag, known for the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers, before travelling through Karnaprayag, Nandprayag, Chamoli and Pipalkoti.

By evening, arrive in Joshimath, an important pilgrimage town and winter seat of Lord Badri. Check in at the hotel and rest after the long mountain drive. This stop is useful for gradual acclimatization before the trek towards Ghangaria.

Overnight stay in Joshimath.

Haridwar Rishikesh to Joshimath drive for Hemkund Sahib Yatra

After an early breakfast, drive from Joshimath towards Govindghat or Pulna, the starting point for the trek to Ghangaria. The route is scenic, with views of the Alaknanda River, steep mountains and traditional Himalayan settlements.

From Govindghat or Pulna, begin the uphill journey towards Ghangaria. The trek follows a well-used mountain trail with forest stretches, waterfalls, bridges and views of the Lakshman Ganga valley. Ghangaria is the main base village for Hemkund Sahib pilgrims and Valley of Flowers visitors.

Those who prefer not to trek may choose available helicopter, pony or porter services, subject to weather conditions, operating schedules, medical suitability and local availability. These services are not guaranteed and should be arranged as per the final on-ground situation.

On reaching Ghangaria, check in at the hotel or guesthouse and rest. Avoid heavy activity in the evening, as the altitude is higher and the next day involves the Hemkund Sahib trek. Overnight stay in Ghangaria.

Govindghat Pulna to Ghangaria trek for Hemkund Sahib

Start early in the morning for the journey from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib. The route climbs steadily through high-altitude Himalayan terrain and offers remarkable views of snow peaks, valleys, alpine plants and mountain streams.

Reach Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara, located beside the sacred Hemkund Lake. Pilgrims can attend prayers, spend time in quiet reflection and enjoy the spiritual atmosphere of this unique Himalayan shrine. The lake, surrounding mountains and high-altitude setting make Hemkund Sahib one of the most memorable pilgrimage destinations in Uttarakhand.

After darshan and langar, begin the return journey to Ghangaria. The descent should be done carefully, especially in wet weather or when the trail is crowded. Pony support may be arranged where available and suitable.

Return to Ghangaria by evening and rest after the long day. Overnight stay in Ghangaria.

Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara darshan and sacred lake trek

After breakfast, begin the return journey from Ghangaria to Govindghat or Pulna. Descend through the mountain trail, passing forest sections, bridges and river views. Travellers may again use available pony or helicopter services, subject to operating conditions and local availability.

On reaching the roadhead, meet the driver and continue towards Joshimath. From here, proceed to Badrinath through the high Himalayan road route. The final journey offers beautiful views of the Alaknanda Valley and surrounding mountain slopes.

On arrival in Badrinath, check in at the hotel. In the evening, visit Badrinath Temple for darshan, subject to temple timings and local conditions. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is one of the most significant Char Dham shrines in India.

Overnight stay in Badrinath.

Ghangaria to Badrinath via Govindghat and Joshimath

Wake up early for Badrinath Temple darshan, subject to temple opening hours and local arrangements. Pilgrims may also visit Tapt Kund, a natural hot spring located near the temple complex, before or after darshan, depending on local rules.

Later, visit Mana Village, subject to road access and permissions. Located close to the Indo-Tibet border, Mana is often described as one of India’s last villages on this Himalayan route. Visit attractions such as Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, Bhim Pul and the Saraswati River viewpoint where accessible.

After sightseeing, begin the drive towards Rudraprayag or Srinagar. The route descends through Joshimath, Chamoli and the Alaknanda Valley, with scenic breaks along the way. Arrival timing depends on road conditions, traffic movement and weather.

Overnight stay in Rudraprayag or Srinagar.

Badrinath Temple darshan and Mana Village sightseeing

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive back towards Rishikesh or Haridwar. The route follows the Alaknanda River valley and passes through the lower Garhwal region, offering final views of river confluences, forested hills and mountain roads.

Depending on the route and available time, brief stops may be made at scenic points or river confluence areas. Arrival time in Rishikesh or Haridwar depends on traffic, road conditions and weather in the Himalayan region.

On arrival, you will be dropped at Haridwar Railway Station, Rishikesh, Dehradun Airport or another preferred drop point as per your onward travel plan. Your 6-day Hemkund Sahib with Badrinath Yatra ends with spiritual memories of Hemkund Lake, Ghangaria, Badrinath Temple and the sacred Himalayan valleys of Uttarakhand.
