This 5 Days Sivasagar, Charaideo and Majuli Heritage Tour is designed for travellers who want to explore Assam through its history, sacred landscapes and living culture rather than focusing only on wildlife. The journey begins in Jorhat and continues to Sivasagar, one of the key centres of Ahom history, before visiting the royal burial landscape at Charaideo.
The second half of the itinerary returns through Jorhat and continues to Majuli Island for satras, village culture and traditional arts. This creates a strong search-focused route for Charaideo Moidams tour, Sivasagar heritage tour and Majuli cultural itinerary.
Charaideo contains the royal moidams of the Tai-Ahom dynasty and is a protected heritage landscape. Visitors should remain on designated paths and follow all site-management instructions.
Sivasagar includes several historic monuments associated with the Ahom period. Opening hours, access and conservation restrictions can vary by site.
Majuli ferry schedules depend on Brahmaputra river conditions, weather and local operations. Crossing points and timings should remain flexible.

Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Jorhat Airport or railway station and meet your driver for the start of the Assam heritage journey.
Continue by road towards Sivasagar, travelling through the landscapes of Upper Assam.
On arrival, check in at your hotel and keep the rest of the day relaxed.
If daylight permits, take a short local orientation or visit a suitable public area.
Overnight stay in Sivasagar.
Spend the day exploring Sivasagar and its Ahom-era heritage.
Visit selected historic monuments and temple areas that are open to visitors, following current timings and conservation rules.
The day can include important heritage landmarks such as Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar, Kareng Ghar or other suitable sites according to the final programme.
Take time to understand the historical importance of Sivasagar rather than treating the monuments only as short photo stops.
Return to your hotel by evening.
Overnight stay in Sivasagar.
After breakfast, leave Sivasagar and travel towards Charaideo.
Visit the Charaideo Moidams, the royal mound-burial landscape associated with the Tai-Ahom dynasty.
Explore only designated visitor areas and follow all archaeological and site-management instructions. The moidams should be treated as both a protected heritage site and a landscape of continuing cultural significance.
Spend enough time to appreciate the wider setting of burial mounds, vegetation and surrounding sacred landscape.
Later, continue towards Jorhat and check in at your hotel.
Overnight stay in Jorhat.
After breakfast, travel from Jorhat towards the locally operating ferry or river crossing for Majuli Island.
Cross the Brahmaputra according to the day’s operating schedule. Ferry timings and boarding points can change with weather, river level and local operations.
On Majuli, visit selected satras where public access is permitted and learn about Assam’s Vaishnavite cultural traditions.
Depending on available time, also visit village areas associated with weaving, mask-making, pottery or other traditional crafts.
Respect local customs around active religious institutions and community spaces.
Overnight stay in Majuli.
After breakfast, check out from your Majuli accommodation.
Travel back to the ferry point and cross towards the Jorhat side according to the day’s operating schedule.
Keep sufficient time for the river crossing and onward road transfer before your flight or train.
Transfer to Jorhat Airport or railway station for departure.
