This 5 Days Meghalaya Tour is a compact first-time itinerary covering the state’s most searched destinations: Shillong, Cherrapunji, Mawlynnong and Dawki. Starting from Guwahati, the route combines city sightseeing, waterfalls, living root bridges, Khasi villages and the Umngot River.
The itinerary targets searches such as 5 days Meghalaya itinerary, Shillong Cherrapunji Dawki tour, Mawlynnong Dawki package and Meghalaya tour from Guwahati. It works well for travellers with limited time who want the main highlights without adding Assam or longer trekking days.
Meghalaya’s scenery is highly seasonal. Waterfall volume, river clarity and valley visibility can change with rain, cloud and time of year.
Living root bridge paths can be uneven and slippery, especially after rainfall. Comfortable footwear with good grip is recommended.
Dawki boating should only be included when locally operating and when water and weather conditions are considered safe. Crystal-clear water is not guaranteed throughout the year.
Travellers with more time can choose longer Meghalaya tour packages that include Krang Suri, Mawphlang, Mawsynram or Assam wildlife.

Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati Airport or railway station and meet your driver for the journey towards Shillong.
The road gradually climbs from the Assam plains into the Khasi Hills, with changing scenery along the way.
Stop at Umiam Lake if time and weather permit. The viewpoint makes a convenient break before entering Shillong.
On arrival, check in at your hotel and spend the evening at leisure or explore a nearby market.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
Spend the day exploring Shillong and selected attractions around the city.
Depending on opening conditions and your interests, include viewpoints, gardens, cultural sites and local market areas.
A stop at Shillong Peak or another suitable viewpoint can be included when access and visibility are good.
Use the afternoon for a relaxed city experience rather than overloading the day before the next transfer to Cherrapunji.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, leave Shillong and travel towards Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra.
The route passes through rolling hills, deep valleys and a series of scenic viewpoints. Stop where visibility and road conditions are suitable.
Explore selected waterfalls and viewpoints, including Nohkalikai Falls when conditions permit.
A publicly accessible limestone cave can also be included. Wear footwear with good grip because cave paths can be wet and uneven.
Check in at your hotel and relax after sightseeing.
Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.
After breakfast, leave Cherrapunji and travel towards Mawlynnong.
Explore the village respectfully and visit a nearby living root bridge where included in the final programme.
The walking path can be uneven or slippery after rain, so wear comfortable footwear and move carefully on wet sections.
Continue to Dawki and the Umngot River. A boat ride can be added when officially operating and when local conditions are considered safe.
River clarity varies with season and rainfall and should not be guaranteed.
Overnight stay in Dawki or nearby Shnongpdeng.
After breakfast, check out from your Dawki-area accommodation and begin the return journey towards Guwahati.
Drive through the Khasi Hills and descend gradually towards the Assam plains.
Keep a comfortable buffer before your onward flight or train because road and traffic conditions can vary.
On arrival in Guwahati, transfer to the airport or railway station for departure.
Your 5 Days Meghalaya Tour concludes after exploring Shillong, Cherrapunji, Mawlynnong and Dawki.
