Well Organized Trip
We appreciated our travel designer (Ovijit) was able to customize our trip to add in additional stops and tailor our hotels to what we were looking for.
This 5 Days Khajuraho, Panna and Bandhavgarh Wildlife Tour combines the cultural heritage of Khajuraho with two of Madhya Pradesh's important wildlife landscapes. The journey begins with the famous Khajuraho temples, continues to Panna National Park, and then moves to Bandhavgarh National Park for dedicated safari experiences before ending in Jabalpur.
The itinerary is designed for travellers who want to combine archaeology and wildlife rather than choosing between the two. Khajuraho provides a strong cultural opening, Panna adds a first forest experience, and Bandhavgarh offers a longer safari-focused stay in one of Central India's best-known tiger reserves.
The route works especially well for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and first-time visitors to Central India. It provides enough time to explore Khajuraho's major temple groups while also allowing multiple safari opportunities in Bandhavgarh, where the varied forest and grassland habitats support a wide range of wildlife.
Safari permits are subject to availability and park regulations, so the programme can be adjusted around confirmed morning and afternoon slots. The tour can also be extended to Kanha, Orchha or Jabalpur for a longer Madhya Pradesh journey.
Arrive in Khajuraho by flight, train or road. Meet your representative and transfer to the hotel for check-in and a short rest.
Begin sightseeing with the Western Group of Temples, the most celebrated concentration of monuments in Khajuraho. Explore important temples such as Kandariya Mahadeva, Lakshmana and Vishvanatha.
Your guide will explain the Chandela-period architecture, sculptural programmes, religious symbolism and everyday scenes represented across the temple façades.
In the evening, explore the local market area or attend an optional cultural or sound-and-light programme if operating during your visit.
Overnight stay in Khajuraho.
After breakfast, continue your Khajuraho sightseeing with selected temples from the Eastern Group, including important Jain and Hindu monuments that provide a quieter contrast to the Western Group.
Later, drive towards Panna National Park for your first wildlife experience of the tour.
Depending on confirmed permits and safari timings, enter the reserve for a shared jeep safari. Panna's dry deciduous forest, rocky terrain, grassland and riverine areas support deer, antelope, langurs, wild boar, many bird species and larger predators.
Tigers and leopards inhabit the reserve, but sightings depend entirely on natural wildlife movement and can never be guaranteed.
Overnight stay in the Panna / Khajuraho region.
After breakfast, check out and begin the road journey towards Bandhavgarh National Park.
The drive crosses the rural landscapes of eastern Madhya Pradesh and gives a good sense of the transition between the Khajuraho-Panna region and the forested areas around Bandhavgarh.
On arrival, check in at your wildlife resort and spend the remaining time at leisure. Your safari schedule for the next day will depend on confirmed entry permits and park timings.
Overnight stay in Bandhavgarh.
Today is dedicated to wildlife exploration in Bandhavgarh National Park. Subject to confirmed permits, take morning and afternoon shared jeep safaris in the designated tourism zones.
The reserve includes sal forest, bamboo, grasslands, rocky hills and open meadows. Bandhavgarh is best known for Bengal tigers, but the park also supports spotted deer, sambar, wild boar, langurs, jackals and many bird species.
Your naturalist will help interpret tracks, alarm calls, habitat and animal behaviour throughout the safari. Wildlife sightings always depend on natural movement and cannot be guaranteed.
Between safaris, return to the resort for meals and rest.
Overnight stay in Bandhavgarh.
Enjoy breakfast at the resort and check out according to your onward travel schedule.
Drive from Bandhavgarh to Jabalpur, one of the main transport gateways for this part of Madhya Pradesh.
Depending on your train or flight time, the transfer can be adjusted to include a meal stop or short break en route.
On arrival in Jabalpur, transfer to the airport, railway station or another agreed departure point.
Your 5-day Khajuraho, Panna and Bandhavgarh wildlife tour concludes after combining UNESCO temple heritage with two very different Central India safari experiences.
Tour concludes in Jabalpur.
