5 Days Jaipur Mandawa Bikaner Tour

5 Days Jaipur Mandawa Bikaner Tour

4 Nights / 5 Days Jaipur – Mandawa – Bikaner

Tour Overview

Experience Rajasthan beyond the classic tourist circuit on this 5 Days Jaipur Mandawa Bikaner Tour. The journey combines the royal architecture of Jaipur, the fresco-painted havelis of Mandawa in the Shekhawati region, and the imposing forts and desert heritage of Bikaner. It is an excellent short Rajasthan itinerary for travellers interested in history, architecture, local culture and traditional desert towns.

Begin in Jaipur with the Pink City's palaces, forts and colourful bazaars before driving through rural Rajasthan to Mandawa. Explore its historic merchant mansions and old lanes, then continue to Bikaner to visit Junagarh Fort, experience local desert culture and make an excursion to Deshnok. With a logical road route and varied sightseeing, the tour offers a compact but rewarding introduction to northern Rajasthan.

This itinerary is particularly suitable for travellers who want to combine Rajasthan's famous royal cities with smaller heritage destinations. Mandawa offers a very different atmosphere from Jaipur, with painted façades, traditional courtyards and merchant homes, while Bikaner introduces travellers to desert architecture, fortified palaces and the distinctive culture of the Thar region.

The route can be customised according to arrival and departure timings, preferred hotel category and onward travel plans. It can also be combined with Jaisalmer, Jodhpur or other destinations on a longer Rajasthan tour.

Tour Highlights:

  • Explore Jaipur's Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal.
  • Walk through Mandawa's fresco-painted havelis and historic market lanes.
  • Experience the cultural heritage of Rajasthan's Shekhawati region.
  • Visit the impressive Junagarh Fort in Bikaner.
  • Discover Deshnok and the famous Karni Mata Temple.
  • Experience Bikaner's desert traditions, old neighbourhoods and local markets.
  • Travel comfortably by private road transfers between Jaipur, Mandawa and Bikaner.

Detailed Itinerary

Arrive in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan and one of India's most celebrated heritage cities. On arrival at the airport or railway station, you will be met and assisted with your transfer to the hotel.

After check-in and some time to relax, begin exploring Jaipur according to your arrival schedule. A good introduction to the city is a drive through the old Pink City, where traditional markets, historic gateways and rose-coloured façades create Jaipur's distinctive character.

Visit or stop for photographs at the iconic Hawa Mahal, famous for its elaborate façade of small windows that once allowed royal women to observe street processions without being seen.

If time permits, explore nearby bazaars such as Johari Bazaar or Bapu Bazaar, where local shops specialise in jewellery, textiles, block-printed fabrics, handicrafts and traditional Rajasthani products.

Overnight stay in Jaipur.

Arrival and sightseeing in Jaipur

After breakfast, continue with Jaipur sightseeing. Begin at Amber Fort, the magnificent hilltop fortress that served as the residence of Jaipur's earlier Rajput rulers. Explore its courtyards, gateways, halls and royal apartments while enjoying views over the surrounding Aravalli landscape.

Return towards the city with a photo stop near Jal Mahal, the picturesque palace standing in Man Sagar Lake. Continue to the City Palace, where museums, courtyards and royal buildings display Jaipur's artistic and political history.

Nearby, visit Jantar Mantar, the remarkable eighteenth-century astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II.

Later, leave Jaipur and drive approximately 180 km to Mandawa in the historic Shekhawati region. The road journey usually takes around four to five hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.

On arrival in Mandawa, check in at your hotel. If daylight permits, enjoy a short orientation walk through the old town before dinner.

Overnight stay in Mandawa.

Mandawa heritage havelis in Rajasthan

Begin the morning with a heritage walk through Mandawa, known for its beautifully painted havelis and old merchant houses. The Shekhawati region became prosperous through trade, and wealthy families decorated their homes with elaborate frescoes depicting religious stories, royal scenes and changing aspects of everyday life.

Walk through the historic lanes to see traditional courtyards, carved doors, balconies and colourful wall paintings before leaving Mandawa for Bikaner. The drive covers approximately 190 km and generally takes around four hours.

On arrival in Bikaner, visit Junagarh Fort, one of Rajasthan's most impressive fortified palace complexes. Unlike many Rajput forts built on hills, Junagarh stands on the plains and contains richly decorated palaces, courtyards, audience halls and royal apartments.

Later, drive to Deshnok to visit the famous Karni Mata Temple, an important pilgrimage site with distinctive local traditions. Visitors should follow temple etiquette and local customs during the visit.

Return to Bikaner in the evening and check in at your hotel.

Overnight stay in Bikaner.

Junagarh Fort sightseeing in Bikaner

After breakfast, spend the day discovering Bikaner's architectural heritage and the traditional lifestyle of northern Rajasthan's desert region.

Visit Lalgarh Palace, built in an Indo-Saracenic style with Rajput, Mughal and European influences. Its red sandstone façades, carved details and landscaped surroundings provide a contrast to the massive defensive architecture of Junagarh Fort.

Continue through Bikaner's old city, where narrow streets, historic merchant houses, small temples and traditional bazaars reveal the city's long history as an important trading centre on desert caravan routes.

Depending on your interests and available time, the day may also include an excursion into the surrounding countryside to experience rural desert life, local communities and the landscapes that define this part of Rajasthan.

In the evening, return to Bikaner and enjoy free time to explore local markets. The city is particularly known for snacks, sweets, handicrafts, textiles and traditional leather products.

Overnight stay in Bikaner.

Bikaner heritage and desert culture

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and spend the remaining time at leisure according to your departure schedule.

If your train or flight leaves later in the day, you may use the morning for last-minute shopping, a short walk through the local market or additional sightseeing in Bikaner depending on available time.

At the appropriate time, transfer to Bikaner Railway Station or airport for your onward journey. The tour can also be extended by road towards Jaisalmer, Jodhpur or Jaipur if you are continuing a longer Rajasthan holiday.

Your 5-day Jaipur, Mandawa and Bikaner journey concludes after experiencing royal forts, painted Shekhawati havelis, desert architecture and Rajasthan's distinctive local culture.

Tour ends in Bikaner.
