Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati Airport or railway station and meet your driver for the journey towards Shillong.
The road gradually leaves the Assam plains and climbs into the Khasi Hills, where the scenery changes to green slopes, forest patches and hill settlements.
Stop at Umiam Lake if weather, daylight and your arrival schedule permit. It makes a convenient scenic break before reaching Shillong.
On arrival, check in at your hotel. If you arrive early enough, explore a nearby market or city viewpoint.
Keep the evening relaxed before the next day’s local sightseeing.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
Spend the day exploring Shillong and selected attractions around Meghalaya’s capital.
Depending on opening conditions and your interests, include viewpoints, gardens, cultural attractions and local market areas.
Shillong Peak or another suitable viewpoint can be visited when access and visibility are good. Cloud and mist can sometimes obscure long-distance views.
Spend time in the city’s market area to experience local food, handicrafts and everyday urban life.
Return to your hotel and rest before the next day’s Cherrapunji excursion.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, drive from Shillong towards Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra.
The route passes open plateaus, deep valleys and scenic viewpoints. Stop where weather and visibility conditions are suitable.
Visit selected waterfalls such as Nohkalikai Falls and other major viewpoints according to season and current access.
Explore a publicly accessible limestone cave if included in the final programme. Cave floors can be wet and uneven, so suitable footwear is important.
After sightseeing, return to Shillong in the evening.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, check out from your Shillong hotel and begin the return drive to Guwahati.
If Umiam Lake was not visited on arrival day, a short stop can be included depending on your departure schedule.
Continue towards Guwahati and allow a comfortable buffer before your flight or train, as traffic can vary on the approach to the city.
Transfer to Guwahati Airport or railway station for departure.
