Well Organized Trip
We appreciated our travel design er (Ovijit) was able to customize our trip to add in additional stops and tailor our hotels to what we were looking for.
This 31 Days Complete Arunachal Pradesh Grand Tour is designed for travellers who want to experience the state beyond a single Tawang or Ziro circuit. The journey begins in Guwahati and crosses western Arunachal through Bhalukpong, Dirang and Tawang before continuing east through Itanagar, Ziro, Daporijo, Aalo, Mechuka and Pasighat.
The second half explores the less-travelled eastern side through Roing, Anini, Tezu, Walong, Dong Valley, Miao and Namdapha National Park. The tour finally ends in Dibrugarh, making it a true west-to-east Arunachal journey.
This itinerary is deliberately long. Arunachal Pradesh is mountainous, road journeys can be slow, and many destinations deserve more than a rushed overnight stop. The programme therefore uses several two-night stays and recovery days between the longest road sectors.
The route covers Buddhist heritage in Tawang, Apatani culture in Ziro, Subansiri landscapes around Daporijo, Galo cultural areas around Aalo, the remote mountain valley of Mechuka, the Siang region around Pasighat, Dibang Valley around Roing and Anini, the eastern frontier landscapes of Walong and Dong Valley, and the forests around Namdapha.
Required Arunachal Pradesh permits must be arranged before travel. Additional local permissions may be necessary for restricted areas such as Bumla Pass, and all such excursions remain subject to security, weather and road conditions.
Travellers wanting a shorter holiday can select individual Arunachal Pradesh tour packages, while this grand journey is best suited to travellers with sufficient time for remote landscapes, long drives and slower cultural exploration.
Arrive at Guwahati Airport or railway station and meet your driver for the journey towards Bhalukpong.
The route leaves Assam’s urban plains and gradually approaches the Himalayan foothills near the Arunachal border.
Keep your Arunachal entry permit and identification readily available for the upcoming state-entry formalities.
On arrival, check in and keep the evening relaxed after the long transfer.
Overnight stay in Bhalukpong.
After breakfast, complete the required entry formalities and continue towards Dirang.
The route climbs gradually through West Kameng, passing forested valleys, mountain settlements and river scenery.
On arrival in Dirang, check in and take time to adjust to the cooler mountain climate.
If daylight remains, take a short local walk rather than adding a heavy sightseeing programme.
Overnight stay in Dirang.
Spend the day exploring Dirang and nearby Sangti Valley.
Visit selected local sights such as Dirang Dzong, monastery areas and traditional settlement zones according to current access.
Continue to Sangti Valley for open landscapes, river scenery and a slower rural experience.
Bird or wildlife sightings are never guaranteed and depend on season, habitat and natural movement.
Overnight stay in Dirang.
Leave Dirang after breakfast and begin the high-altitude drive towards Tawang.
Cross Sela Pass, where snow, fog and strong winds may affect visibility or road conditions depending on the season.
Continue via Jaswant Garh and include a suitable stop near Nuranang Falls if road and daylight conditions permit.
Arrive in Tawang and keep the evening relaxed for acclimatisation.
Overnight stay in Tawang.
Spend a full day exploring Tawang.
Visit Tawang Monastery and its publicly accessible cultural and prayer areas while respecting the customs of this active religious institution.
Continue to Tawang War Memorial, Urgelling Monastery and selected local viewpoints.
Use the evening for the town market or a relaxed walk rather than another long road excursion.
Overnight stay in Tawang.
Today is reserved for the high-altitude excursion towards Bumla Pass.
Separate local permission is required and access remains subject to security clearance, weather, snow and road conditions.
Where access is permitted, include selected high-altitude lakes and scenic stops on the route.
Keep physical activity moderate at altitude and shorten the excursion if anyone feels unwell.
Overnight stay in Tawang.
After breakfast, leave Tawang and retrace the mountain road towards Bomdila.
Take practical rest stops along the Sela route and allow extra time for changing road conditions.
On arrival, visit Bomdila Monastery if daylight and opening conditions permit.
Overnight stay in Bomdila.
Leave Bomdila early for the long transfer towards Itanagar.
This sector links western Arunachal with the central part of the state and should be treated primarily as a road day.
Actual routing and travel time may vary according to road conditions, weather and the route selected by the local driver.
Arrive in Itanagar and rest.
Overnight stay in Itanagar.
Spend the day exploring Arunachal Pradesh’s capital.
Visit selected attractions such as Ita Fort, Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum, craft centres and Ganga Lake according to opening conditions.

The road climbs into Lower Subansiri district and reaches the broad highland valley associated with Apatani culture.

Arrive in Pasighat, check in and enjoy a relaxed evening.

The route links the Siang side of Arunachal with the Lower Dibang Valley region.
Arrive in Roing and check in. If daylight remains, enjoy a short local orientation.
Overnight stay in Roing.
Leave Roing early for the long climb towards Mayodia and Anini.
The road passes through cooler forest, mountain valleys and increasingly remote terrain.
Mayodia is weather-sensitive, and fog, rain or winter conditions may alter the planned stops.
Continue to Anini and rest after the long road journey.
Overnight stay in Anini.
Spend a full day exploring Anini and nearby Dibang Valley landscapes.
Visit selected viewpoints, river areas and local settlements according to weather and road access.
The appeal of Anini is its remoteness and natural setting rather than a checklist of conventional monuments.
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed and cultural visits should remain respectful.
Overnight stay in Anini.
After breakfast, begin the long return drive to Roing via the Mayodia region.
Take practical rest breaks and allow the driver to adjust stops according to road and weather conditions.

The road links the Dibang side with the Lohit region and provides another change in landscape.
On arrival, check in and keep the evening relaxed.
Overnight stay in Tezu.

This is a long remote-road sector through forested mountains and river valleys.
Use Hayuliang as a practical rest stop and continue according to current road conditions.
Arrive in Walong and rest.
Overnight stay in Walong.
Start early for the Dong Valley excursion, subject to local access, weather and road conditions.
Clear sunrise views are never guaranteed because cloud, fog and rain can change quickly in this mountain region.
Return to Walong and visit selected military memorials and scenic valley areas.
Follow all local security instructions and avoid restricted locations.
Overnight stay in Walong.
After breakfast, retrace the Lohit Valley route from Walong towards Tezu.

Overnight stay in Miao.
Spend the day exploring Namdapha National Park and its forest landscape.
Follow the locally permitted walking or vehicle route for the day and comply with forest-department instructions.
Focus on forest ecology, birdlife and the overall ecosystem rather than expecting guaranteed large-mammal sightings.
Carry suitable footwear, drinking water and rain protection when conditions require.
Return to Miao or the Namdapha gateway area by evening.
Overnight stay in Miao or near Namdapha.
After breakfast, leave Miao and begin the final journey towards Dibrugarh.
Travel out of Arunachal Pradesh and return to the Assam plains.
Keep a comfortable buffer before your onward flight or train because road conditions can vary.
