Well Organized Trip
We appreciated our travel designer (Ovijit) was able to customize our trip to add in additional stops and tailor our hotels to what we were looking for.
This 3 Days Khajuraho Heritage and Panna Tour combines two of Madhya Pradesh's most rewarding experiences: the extraordinary temple architecture of Khajuraho and the forest landscapes of Panna National Park. The itinerary is designed for travellers who have limited time but still want a balanced mix of UNESCO heritage, local culture, dramatic scenery and wildlife.
The journey begins with the Western Group of Khajuraho temples, where finely carved sandstone monuments reveal the artistic achievements of the Chandela period. The second day explores the Eastern and Southern temple groups before continuing to Raneh Falls. The final day is reserved for a Panna wildlife experience before departure.
This short Khajuraho itinerary works particularly well for first-time visitors, culture lovers, photographers and travellers who want to add a wildlife component to a Central India holiday. Rather than limiting the trip to the most famous Western temples, it also includes the quieter temple groups and nearby natural attractions.
The tour can be customised around your arrival and departure schedule, preferred hotel category and safari availability. It can also be extended to Orchha, Bandhavgarh, Gwalior or Varanasi.
Arrive in Khajuraho by flight, train or road. On arrival, meet your representative and transfer to the hotel for check-in. After some time to rest, begin your introduction to one of India's most important temple destinations.
Visit the Western Group of Temples, the best-known concentration of Khajuraho monuments. The complex contains some of the most accomplished examples of Chandela-period temple architecture and sculpture.
Explore important temples such as Kandariya Mahadeva, Lakshmana and Vishvanatha while your guide explains the architectural layout, symbolism, religious themes and everyday scenes represented in the carvings.
In the evening, you may explore Khajuraho's local market area or attend an optional cultural or sound-and-light programme if operating during your visit.
Overnight stay in Khajuraho.
After breakfast, continue your Khajuraho sightseeing with the Eastern and Southern temple groups. These monuments receive fewer visitors than the Western Group and provide a quieter setting for exploring the wider religious and artistic traditions of the region.
Visit selected Jain and Hindu temples, appreciating the contrast in scale, decorative style and setting. Your guide can focus the visit according to your interests in architecture, iconography, history or photography.
Later, drive to Raneh Falls, a natural attraction near Khajuraho known for its rocky gorge and dramatic landscape. The scenery is especially striking when seasonal water flow is strong, although the canyon itself remains an interesting geological feature at other times of year.
Return to Khajuraho in the late afternoon or evening and relax at your hotel.
Overnight stay in Khajuraho.
Start early for your wildlife excursion to Panna National Park, one of Madhya Pradesh's important protected forest landscapes and a natural extension to a Khajuraho heritage trip.
Depending on confirmed permits and operating schedules, enter the park for a shared jeep safari. The landscape includes dry deciduous forest, open grassland, riverine habitat and rocky terrain.
Panna is known for a range of wildlife including deer, antelope, langurs, wild boar and numerous bird species. Tigers and leopards also inhabit the reserve, but sightings depend entirely on natural wildlife movement and can never be guaranteed.
After the safari, return towards Khajuraho and transfer to Khajuraho Airport, railway station or your onward road connection according to your departure time.
Your 3-day Khajuraho and Panna tour concludes after combining UNESCO temple heritage, the natural scenery of Raneh Falls and a Central India wildlife experience.
