Arrive in Gwalior by train, flight or road. Meet your representative and transfer to the hotel for check-in.
Begin with a city sightseeing programme covering selected royal and cultural landmarks. Depending on your arrival time, explore the palace area, historic neighbourhoods and important city monuments.
Gwalior has a long history shaped by several dynasties and princely rulers, so the first day provides useful context before the dedicated fort visit on Day 2.
In the evening, you may explore a local market or enjoy a relaxed walk through the central city before returning to the hotel.
Overnight stay in Gwalior.
After breakfast, spend the day exploring Gwalior Fort, the city's defining landmark and one of the most impressive fortified hill complexes in Central India.
Visit the major palaces, temples, gateways and historic structures within the fort area while your guide explains the site's long political and architectural history.
Important stops can include the palace complexes, historic temples and viewpoints overlooking the modern city. The fort's layered history makes it worth exploring at a slower pace rather than as a quick photo stop.
After completing the fort circuit, return to the lower city for any remaining sightseeing or leisure time.
Overnight stay in Gwalior.
After breakfast, leave Gwalior for a heritage excursion to Bateshwar, Mitawali and Padavali, a rewarding circuit for travellers interested in archaeology and early temple architecture.
Begin at the Bateshwar temple complex, where a large group of historic stone temples creates one of the most distinctive archaeological landscapes near Gwalior.
Continue to Mitawali, known for its unusual circular temple plan and elevated setting, then visit Padavali, where a fortified enclosure and richly carved temple remains reveal another layer of regional history.
After the excursion, return to Gwalior and transfer to the railway station, airport or another agreed departure point according to your onward schedule.
