This 3 Days Guwahati and Shillong Tour is a compact Northeast India itinerary combining one of Assam’s most important pilgrimage sites with the landscapes of Meghalaya. The journey begins in Guwahati with a visit to Kamakhya Temple before travelling to Shillong.
The second day is reserved for a full-day excursion to Cherrapunji, while the final morning includes Umiam Lake before returning to Guwahati. This route is suitable for travellers looking for a short Guwahati Shillong Cherrapunji tour without adding longer wildlife or remote-road sectors.
Because this is only a three-day programme, the itinerary keeps the first and final days practical and avoids adding too many city stops around Guwahati or Shillong.
Kamakhya Temple is an active pilgrimage site. Darshan access and waiting time can vary with festivals, religious events, crowds and local temple arrangements.
Cherrapunji’s waterfalls and viewpoints are seasonal. Rain, mist and cloud can affect visibility, while waterfall volume varies considerably through the year.
Travellers with more time can combine this short route with Assam wildlife destinations or browse other Meghalaya tour packages.

Detailed Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati Airport or railway station and meet your driver for the start of the tour.
Visit Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Assam. Darshan time can vary depending on crowds, festivals and current temple arrangements.
After the visit, begin the drive towards Shillong.
The road leaves the Assam plains and gradually climbs into the Khasi Hills, with forested slopes and hill settlements appearing along the route.
On arrival in Shillong, check in at your hotel and spend the evening at leisure.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, leave Shillong for a full-day excursion to Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra.
Travel through the Khasi Hills, stopping at suitable viewpoints when weather and visibility are good.
Visit selected waterfalls and natural viewpoints around Cherrapunji, including Nohkalikai Falls when local conditions permit.
A publicly accessible limestone cave can also be included if time and conditions are suitable. Wear footwear with good grip because cave surfaces can be wet.
Later, return to Shillong and relax after the day’s sightseeing.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, check out from your Shillong hotel and begin the return journey towards Guwahati.
Stop at Umiam Lake when weather and your departure schedule permit. The broad reservoir and surrounding hills make a scenic final stop in Meghalaya.
Continue towards Guwahati and allow a comfortable time buffer before your onward flight or train.
Transfer to Guwahati Airport or railway station for departure.
