This 3 Days Bhopal, Sanchi, Udayagiri and Bhojpur Tour is a compact heritage itinerary for travellers who want to explore the most important archaeological and cultural sites around Bhopal. The route combines the city's own heritage with Sanchi, Udayagiri, Bhojpur and Bhimbetka.
In only three days, the itinerary moves through very different periods of Indian history: Buddhist monuments, early rock-cut architecture, medieval temple remains, prehistoric shelters and Bhopal's urban heritage. This makes it especially suitable for history lovers and first-time visitors to Madhya Pradesh.
Bhopal works as a practical base because all the major excursions can be completed without changing hotels every night. Sanchi and Udayagiri fit naturally into one day, while Bhojpur and Bhimbetka create a second excursion with a strong contrast between temple architecture and prehistoric art.

Detailed Itinerary
Arrive in Bhopal by flight, train or road. Meet your representative and transfer to the hotel for check-in.
Depending on your arrival time, begin a city sightseeing programme covering selected heritage districts, museum collections, historic mosques or lakeside viewpoints.
Bhopal is useful as more than just a transit city. Its architecture, museums and layered history provide important context before the archaeological excursions planned for the next two days.
Overnight stay in Bhopal.
After breakfast, leave Bhopal for a full-day excursion to Sanchi.
Explore the principal stupas, ceremonial gateways and monastic remains while learning how the complex developed over several centuries. The detailed carvings are easier to understand with guided interpretation rather than a quick walk-through.
Continue to Udayagiri, known for its early rock-cut caves, sculptural panels and inscriptions. The site adds useful historical depth after the Buddhist monuments of Sanchi.
Return to Bhopal in the evening.
Overnight stay in Bhopal.
After breakfast, check out and drive to Bhojpur. Visit the historic temple complex and see its monumental architecture and unfinished stonework before continuing towards Bhimbetka.
At Bhimbetka, walk through selected rock shelters and view prehistoric paintings that record human activity across a very long period.
After completing the excursion, return to Bhopal and transfer to the airport, railway station or another agreed departure point according to your onward schedule.
