Well Organized Trip
We appreciated our travel design er (Ovijit) was able to customize our trip to add in additional stops and tailor our hotels to what we were looking for.
This 12 Days Classic India Family Tour with Varanasi is designed for families who want India's most important cultural highlights without compressing them into a rushed week. The route combines Delhi, the Taj Mahal in Agra, Jaipur's royal heritage and Varanasi's riverfront traditions, with enough time for rest, family photography and age-appropriate experiences.
It is particularly suitable for international families, NRI travellers and multi-generational groups with older children or teenagers. Rather than filling every day with monuments, the itinerary mixes history, markets, a rickshaw experience, palace visits, local crafts, Ganga Aarti, a sunrise boat ride and quieter hotel time.
Delhi introduces the family to India's contrasts, Agra focuses on the Taj Mahal, and Jaipur adds forts, crafts and colourful local life. Varanasi then gives the journey a completely different cultural dimension through the ghats, Ganga Aarti and an early-morning river experience.
Varanasi can be intense for first-time visitors, so the programme avoids stacking too many activities into the same day. Evening and sunrise experiences are separated with proper rest in between.
The itinerary can be adapted for younger children or grandparents by shortening walking sections, reducing monument visits and adding more hotel time where needed.
Arrive in Delhi, where a representative will meet your family and assist with the private transfer to the hotel.
The first day is intentionally light because long-haul flights, airport procedures and jet lag can be tiring for children, parents and grandparents.
After check-in, allow time for meals, rest and settling into the new time zone.
If the family arrives early and still feels comfortable, take a short orientation drive or easy walk near the hotel.
Keep the evening simple and avoid adding sightseeing just to fill the day.
Overnight stay in Delhi.
After breakfast, begin a private family sightseeing day through selected parts of Old and New Delhi.
Explore the atmosphere around Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk. A short cycle-rickshaw ride can be included where suitable, giving children and teenagers a more interactive introduction to Old Delhi.
Continue towards Raj Ghat and selected New Delhi landmarks such as India Gate, Humayun's Tomb or Qutub Minar according to the family's interests.
Take a proper lunch break and avoid trying to visit every major monument in one day.
Return to the hotel by late afternoon where possible, leaving time for rest, pool use or an easy family dinner.
Overnight stay in Delhi.
After breakfast, travel privately from Delhi to Agra.
Check in on arrival and allow time for lunch and a short rest before beginning sightseeing.
Later, visit the Taj Mahal. Your guide can explain its story and architecture in an engaging way for different age groups.
Allow plenty of time for family photographs, garden walks and short breaks.
If the family still has enough energy, continue to Agra Fort. Otherwise, return to the hotel earlier and keep the Taj Mahal as the main experience of the day.
Overnight stay in Agra.
Leave Agra after breakfast and travel towards Jaipur.
Stop at Fatehpur Sikri for a manageable heritage visit according to current access and opening conditions.
Keep the stop focused rather than trying to inspect every section of the complex, especially if travelling with younger children or older family members.
Continue to Jaipur, check in and allow the family time to relax after the road journey.
If everyone is interested, take a short evening market or craft-area visit without making the day too long.
Overnight stay in Jaipur.
Begin with a private visit to Amber Fort, exploring its courtyards and viewpoints at a comfortable pace.
Continue to Jaipur city for a photo stop at Hawa Mahal and selected sightseeing such as City Palace or Jantar Mantar.
For families with younger children, one major city monument may be enough after Amber Fort.
In the afternoon, add a more interactive experience such as block printing, a craft demonstration, a short market walk or a family-friendly cooking activity if requested in advance.
Return to the hotel early enough for rest before dinner.
Overnight stay in Jaipur.
Today is intentionally lighter so the family has a break before the Varanasi section of the journey.
Use the morning for pool time, hotel relaxation, shopping or a short local activity based on the family's interests.
Teenagers may enjoy a photography walk, craft workshop or local food experience, while younger children may benefit more from a simple morning at the hotel.
Keep the afternoon flexible and avoid another long monument schedule.
Prepare luggage for the onward journey and enjoy an easy family dinner.
Overnight stay in Jaipur.
After breakfast, transfer privately to the airport or confirmed departure point for the onward journey to Varanasi.
The domestic flight or travel connection should be selected according to the best available schedule for the confirmed date.
On arrival, meet the local representative and transfer to the hotel.
Keep the remainder of the day light because Varanasi can feel intense on first arrival and the family will benefit from time to settle in.
If everyone is comfortable, take a short orientation drive or hotel-area walk rather than a full sightseeing programme.
Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Keep the morning relatively relaxed and begin sightseeing later, allowing the family to rest before the evening programme.
Explore selected heritage or cultural areas of Varanasi with a private guide, avoiding unnecessarily long walks through crowded lanes.
Return to the hotel for a proper break in the afternoon.
Later, proceed towards the ghats for the evening Ganga Aarti, using the most suitable access and viewing arrangement for the family's age and mobility.
After the ceremony, return directly to the hotel rather than adding another activity.
Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Rise early for a sunrise boat ride on the Ganges, subject to river, weather and local operating conditions.
The morning river experience offers a quieter perspective on Varanasi and can be especially memorable for older children and teenagers.
Keep explanations simple and age-appropriate, especially around the religious and ritual life visible along the ghats.
Return to the hotel for breakfast and a long rest period. No full sightseeing schedule is planned after the early start.
The afternoon is free for sleep, pool time where available, light shopping or a short optional activity.
Overnight stay in Varanasi.
After breakfast, take a private excursion to Sarnath, an important Buddhist site near Varanasi.
The open spaces and archaeological setting can provide a calmer contrast to the crowded riverfront areas of Varanasi.
Visit selected sites according to opening conditions and the family's interest level.
Return to Varanasi for lunch and keep the afternoon free for shopping, hotel time or a short final walk.
Enjoy an easy final evening in Varanasi before the return to Delhi.
Overnight stay in Varanasi.
After breakfast, transfer privately to Varanasi airport for the onward journey to Delhi.
The domestic flight should be selected according to the best available schedule for the confirmed date.
On arrival in Delhi, transfer to the hotel and keep the remainder of the day free.
This final buffer night is useful for long-haul families because it avoids connecting directly from a domestic sector to an international departure.
Use the evening for rest, a simple family dinner or last-minute packing.
Overnight stay in Delhi.
Enjoy breakfast and a relaxed final morning according to your departure time.
If the international flight is later in the day, use the remaining time for rest, a short local stop or an easy meal rather than adding another full sightseeing programme.
Complete check-out and meet your driver for the private airport transfer.
Allow suitable time for Delhi traffic and international airport formalities.
