Munnar Top Station, Kerala

The remains of this ropeway station and Kundala Valley Railway can be seen from the Munnar Tea Museum.This station was built in 1902 between Munnar, Kundala and a low point in the crest of the hills, with a monorail goods carriage system being installed along the route.

Location and how to reach

The top station is around 32 km away from Munnar. It is on the Munnar-Kodaikanal road. The height of Top station is 1700 meters above sea level. The place Top Station got its name because it was the uppermost railway station, located in the Kundala Valley. The best way to come here is through a bus or cab, which can be booked directly from Munnar.

Getting up early in the morning will allow you to see the mesmerising sight of clouds hanging over the lake and tea garden. Top station is also famous for its sprawling tea gardens, where you can take a stroll and learn about the cultivation process from the locals. This destination is popular for many reasons; however, the famous Neelakurinji flowers, which bloom once in twelve years, make this place unique. Other things that make this a place worth visiting are its unique tea plantation, serene valleys, enchanting waterfalls, and exotic forest life.
